In hopes that she would have a pretty daughter, my mother picked the name Amy. My original middle name was Zoila, named after my maternal grandmother who is now 104 years old! My middle name was eventually changed to Lee. My parents calls me Emilee (in Spanish) or Emisita. Some call me Ames. My last name is my favorite. I have never met another person with Noe' as their last name that wasn't a relative. It is different and unique! Garcia is way too popular so I find it boring. My married name is Noe'-Garcia. It is the nickname my mother gave me, which comes from Lissandra. Growing up I did not care for the name Maria. I preferred to be called Lissa and wished my first name was Lissandra. I did not like how common Maria was and found Lissandra to be a unique name. When I asked my father, he said I was supposed to have been named "Maria" from "West Side Story." My mother said she'd wanted to name me "Angela." Ultimately, when the Birth Certificate form was filled out, I was "Anita" (also from the movie/play. I do not have a preferred nickname since both of my parents only called me by my name.
