The actors play a multiple roll: the novel suggests a single soul reoccurring throughout time which you can see with the comet shape birthmarks. In the movie, this idea is expanded dramatically.
Love stories: In the novel we only read about the love story of Somni 451 and Hae Joo Im and Frobisher and Sixsmith but in the movie, we see other relationships as well.

In the novel there relationship is different. They have intercourse but it's described as joyless.
The ending in the book is far more complicated than in the movie where Somni makes a tragic sacrifice.
