The challenges that I faced with this course mainly had to do with my abilities to balance this courses workload with my other courses workload. My highlights for this course were definitely the second module and learning about the different kinds of therapies and methods of therapy which I found very fascinating. In this course I learnt a lot about society and people and the reasonings why people do what they do. I think plus tuts are very important for 4 year program students because it eases them into the workload and university life and it allows them to go into the work in greater depth than what is done solely in the lectures. I think what could be done better in the plus tuts is that I think the plus tuts should focus more and looking back on the previous weeks work or work that is currently being done because I feel like the issue that I had with the plus tuts was that it was usually a topic from a few weeks back and by the time we're discussing it, we've already moved on to another module or topic in the lectures so that was really my only gripe with the plus tuts for SWK1014F. The students responsibilities in the plus tuts is to ensure that they I come prepared for the tutorial and that they are able to engage with the class and the topic. I personally don't feel like anything needs to be added to the plus tuts as for as I am concerned. I think that the biggest take away that I took from this course was to not judge certain situations or scenarios but to look at it from an empathetic and productive point of view and to be able to see the ways in which one can help others.

1. in terms of challenges faced there were no challenges faced on my end, despite the many readings that needed to be done on a weekly basis for quiz purposes but either than that there were no challenges.

2. My highlights were being able to engage with my fellow students in class and in plus tutorials and being able to be outspoken and voice my opinions.

3.1 what I learned in this course is about psychological things, how humans behave, and what should be done for those that are in need, it was an eye-opener that one should always look at one's situation in the most sensitive way and not judge anybody.

3.2 Plus tutorials are important in a four-year program because it helps increase the understanding of the content and it helps students to be able to ask enough questions and get the necessary help that they need in order to ensure that they are succeeding academically.

3.3, In my opinion, in the current tutorial that I am in with Connie there is nothing much that I can possibly want to change, because my tutor does provide information to us when we do not understand or know something that is related to the course, and the activities done are really good for learning purposes, therefore I do not have any complaints.

3.4 The responsibility of students in the plus tut is to engage with each other and the content and when something is not known, questions should be asked in order to get an understanding of what is going on in the course. then that also means that we as students have to attend at all times as it is a responsibility that has been instilled in us.

3.5 Due to my experience in the plus tutorial this semester, I do not think there is anything that should be added, the program and department as a whole in my opinion is doing a good job.

3.5 My take-home message from this course is understanding one's environment and where one lives and how they are influenced by those living standards and not judging people because we do not know what they are going through on a daily basis, and helping people is another aspect that I got from this course. The more we ensure people are feeling good on a daily basis the better.

Challenges I faced were that I would forget about the course at times. My other courses are way more demanding than this one. I am on Vula more than I am on Amathuba. So, staying up to date with this course was a bit of a struggle. The highlights were, I took the course to help me with my internship. It did that's exactly, as I used a lot the things. That was taught in the course to guide me with my internship. The one section that stood out. Was when we looked at the topic of communities. Because this course does not have a main tut. This tut helped a lot with course content. Being able to engage with a smaller group. This tut has been structured way better than most of the plus courses. I have done. I would say to have short weekly submissions. Just to ensure that we stay up to date with the course. Students should come to the tut with some preparation done. The weekly blogs on a specific topic that was covered. Or something along those lines. The take home message for me for this course was. To always evaluate and look at things from different and a deeper perspective. That is the general I feel. I get from most courses I do.

HOW THE SEMESSTER HAVE BEEN

In this essay we have been asked if how has the semester been .Touching on the challenges which are the struggles that we faced during this semester in this course and other courses, the highlights which can think as the best part of this course also for other courses and the development and growth .This essay will conclude and talk about what is a take home message , what have been learnt in terms of the content and is anything that students would love to be added to the session.

The semester have been really tough but in this course things were manageable .In terms of other courses just like the Environmental sciences things have been hectic , the course is demanding and have lot of science work and had lot of break downs for this semester partly because of that course .The challenge that I have faced in this course have been nothing but course work .This section of the course have too much notes and the course is demanding , from the slides up to the reading .It has been too much to keep up with the work , to an extent that I have skipped some lecture slides but to continue doing what the Lecture is doing on that particular week either than that this course has been the best and manageable one so far. The topics for each module seem interesting but could not be able to finish all the reading and some few lectures in module one .What has been challenging mostly on this section for me was the Systems , never encountered a problem when it came to Theories because some parts were self-explanatory .In the second module which was Working with vulnerability it was quite interesting even finished the lectures .The third Module which is the one that we currently doing I am love with it maybe it is because its talking about substances of which it is what we as students mostly exposed to .

Systems theories basically was all about how different systems interact with one another .Theories was all about the application of skill and understanding of theories and talked about theories in social work practiced which guided the social workers in doing their work .I have also learned about Trauma which has a huge impact in ones life , how being exposed to an abuse for example sexual abuse can have a huge impact in your life .

Highlights for this course is that it is understandable .Grateful that I am in the extend degree where I get to have a tutorial , it has helped a lot in things that I did not understand such as the Systems for module one .Also it has been great in term of giving out the correct scope , where we get to find exactly what the Lecture and the Tutor said the quizz will be about .I think plus tuts are important for a four year programme as the is too much work for each course the tutors are there to help us to unpack the work load .In terms of doing better in plus tutorials , I have not seen or feel like my tutorial was not helpful .I try to make it a point that I come to the tutorials because they are very helpful in terms of the work that I did not understand and my tutor has been doing everything good , from asking questions which makes us to participate and engage as students also she never made one to feel uncomfortable in terms of asking questions .Because it happens that we as students do not want to attend the tutorials because we afraid that we are going to be randomly selected to answer questions , here you just have to answer the terms that you chose and ask questions where you don’t understand .The students are responsible for participating in the plus tut and attend the tutorials also ask questions , which that has happened in this tut .My take home message I have learnt that we are all connected and this course is also connected in terms of what the first and second lecture have talked about and basically talks more about how it can help people to do better .

In conclusion in this essay I have written how has the semester been .Touching on the challenges which are the struggles that I have faced during this semester in this course and other courses, the highlights which can think as the best part of this course also for other courses and the development and growth .And concluded to talk about what is a take home message , what have been learnt in terms of the content and is anything that students would love to be added to the session.

1. In this semester some of the challenges I experienced were that as soon as I had become comfortable in my daily routine regarding which classes and tutorials I had, I began to skip some classes and prioritize one course above the rest. in that it became difficult to try and keep up with the rest of my courses workloads, I worked longer hours and slept for fewer - I was quite overwhelmed and emotionally distressed.

2. Some of my highlights in this course would be, making friends who have similar career path ideas. I enjoyed the tutorials that I was able to attend, the tutorials didn't feel like they always had to follow an academic routine which was nice. sometimes all i really needed to do was express how i actually felt.

3.1 In the SWK1013 course I learnt about all the different aspects of social work, from working with families & vulnerable children, understanding substance abuse & solutions and how community connections all work. I learnt that all existing ecosystems are inter-relational and influence each other which affects they way we live life individually and impact each other.

3.2 The importance of plus tutorials is that they allow you to review course work and gain understanding of the content you may not already understand. interacting with your peers and tutors is a good way to retain and understand the information taught in classes on a more personal level and in a different way. The tutorials are also a good way of sharing how you are actually doing academically and personally without having to feel like you are stepping out of your comfort zone. The tutors offer help outside academics which is a plus, it's like having a friend :)

3.3 I am currently happy with regards to my tutorial group and my tutor, Connie makes herself available to help you out anytime even if it does not concern SWK. I have had issues in attending the required number of tutorials but Connie has always found a way to help me. she answers any questions I have regarding the course content fully and she does not overload us with activities. I like that she is relatable.

3.4 The role of students in the tutorial group in my opinion would be to attend and engage, because tutors are also scholars who are taking the time out of their day to assist us with the basics regardless of what they have going on. I also believe that as the student, my participation in sharing information and how I process it would be beneficial to how others evaluate the same information, we all bring and share ideas that help us look at the same information from different angles.

3.5 There isn't anything that I would like to change about the tutorial program so far. I think that has expected my expectations and met my needs more than adequately, I have no complaints and I hope it continues throughout the year. they were definitely helpful.

3.6 What do I take home from this course?
well, I definitely have a new outlook on how we can reach out to our respective communities, in terms of how you deal with community trauma like substance misuse, things like the drug master plan offer solutions on how to deal with those particular issues. I have been working on a research report which which concerns the last module we covered; Substance Abuse& Addiction and the course really helped me gain a new perspective on the topic and how to come up with new solutions.
