This week begins a lightning fast chapter, Chapter 8 Go Math: Multiply Fractions by Whole Numbers. We will work on Lessons 8.1-8.5 and will NOT take the Mid-Chapter Checkpoint. The test will happen next Monday, February 3rd.

Chapter 8 notes we take in class are under the "Homework Printables" section. In the same section, there are very helpful videos and tools to support you and your child if a concept needs a little more review.

Social Studies:

Over the next few weeks we will begin studying the first peoples that lived/explored in California. We already studied 6 different native groups to California. Last week, we discussed European/Russian Explorers. Starting this week, we will dive into the CA Mission System and work on an in-class project over the next two weeks.

READING: We are finishing our novel study on Island of the Blue Dolphins. This week we complete the book, do some review and take the final test. Please look at the "Absent Activities" to find the chapters we are reading this week. If absent, it is important that you keep up with the reading.

WRITING: Narrative Writing. Students will create their own Fractured Fairy Tale. We are moving toward our final, typed drafts this week and next.
