The visual that best represents the theme of “Heroes” I think is image E. Image E is a red poppy, the colour red symbolizes the blood shed by soldiers who fight for their country. It also symbolizes the ground of which the soldiers where buried on, the filed had many red poppies and they use that as a reminder every Remembrance Day. The poppy represents the soldiers that fought to the death for others which is a selfless act and is heroic. Not only are they fighting for their country they are fighting for a bigger cause such as freedom, equality, and rights. To fight in a war takes courage and strength mentally and physically which in my eyes-only heroes can do. The poppy is a constant reminder of the passed, hence the saying “lest we forget”. When you see a poppy weather you are 5 or 50 it makes you think of the heroic people who will never be forgotten for the selfless act they served us all.

The visual that best represents the theme “Heroes” is visual B. I think this because police officers contribute a lot to our society and they allow people to live a life without fear of being hurt or killed by anyone else. Without them, our western society would be a pool of brutality and murder. We can look at countries that don’t have good police officers nor a good justice system- the citizens of these countries constantly live in fear and there is a lot of violence in these countries as criminal-minded people don’t have to fear retribution or consequences for their actions. When looking at these countries, many people feel an immense feeling of gratitude to the police officers of our own countries that provide their services for us, day and night.
The picture that I selected is of a police officer that is running toward the scene of a crime. There is a lot of blue and green in the picture. The police officer is wearing a lot of blue and the police car is also blue. The foliage in the backdrop is a mixture of all shades of green; it is evident from the background that the picture was taken in the summer or spring. This reminds us that police officers are ready to respond to our emergency in any season- just as they are available in the summer, the winter is no different. while everyone else is inside during minus forty weathers, they are running around, saving lives of people. Expression on the police officers face shows that he is very focused on the crime scene and the fact that he is running shows us how much he cares. This shows how selfless police officers are and how willing they are to throw themselves into a conflict so that others can leave it.

I feel like police always have the most scariest job because when ever their is something wrong like a robbery or even just a small problem it could go wrong in anyway, but polices don't care about it they are always caring about other people instead of them self so that makes people feel safe that their are people who care about them more then their self.

Drew Kerr The image I chose was the poppy. The poppy represents a hero because a poppy symbolizes freedom. Canada has freedom because we went to war for our freedom. The real hero’s are the ones who fought in the worst wars like world war 2, world war 1, cold war etc. They are hero’s because they risked their lives for people’s freedom they didn’t even know. They risked their lives for our country to be a better place and this should be appreciated by everyone. I think the reason the poppy is red and black is because red symbolizes the blood shed in battle when they were fighting for us and I think that black symbolizes the dark times when someone has died or they lost a battle. A poppy usually represents the Canadian army and to this day and so on they are still fighting for us to be safe and to have freedom. They are always risking there life for random people and that is what makes me think that they are hero’s. if we didn’t have the Canadian army in world war 2 we wouldn’t have won the war and wouldn’t have freedom for our country. There was 45 400 Canadian people dead who fought for our country and this shows courage to go out there and fight to be a Hero.

The image I chose was the second picture. Which is the police officer running to something. I know that this this is police officer running to something not a normal person because he is wearing what a police officer should and plus you can tell that he has a police car in the background. Police are one of my heroes because they serve and protect people. The picture is showing that he is on a job right now protecting someone by helping them out with something. How else I know he is a police officer is that he has blue and I think red lights in the roof of his car which means he is a police officer because they put those lights off when they need to get somewhere fast. He is also wearing a vest which is a bullet proof vest. Without police murders would be running around they help make people safe by keeping the bad guys away.

Eden Solvason In my opinion, I believe that image E, the poppy, is the best visual representation of “heroes”. Firstly, the poppy is deep red, and people associate red with blood. So, associating the poppy with war and bloodshed makes perfect sense. Secondly, In Flanders Fields by John McCrae is a very famous poem written during WW1 that is set in a field “where poppies grow.” When we think of war, we think of death, destruction and woe. The poppy, which grows delicately in Flanders Fields, is like a symbol of the peace after the chaos. Lastly, every November, we stand at attention and mourn the lost lives from our past mistakes with a poppy resting over our hearts. Every year, we acknowledge the poppy as a symbol of heroic sacrifice. In conclusion, I believe that the poppy is the best symbol to represent “heroes” because it is red, delicate, and a symbol of peace.

The visual I think best represents the theme of hero’s is (E) because. The picture is a poppy. The poppy has red to represent the blood spilled by the soldiers who fought for us. They made a choice to go out and put their life on the line for the future generation, us. The red on the petals is also a Canadian colour. We have it on our flag and our RCMP uniforms. The black in the middle of the poppy also represents death. Black is a colour that is usually worn the funerals. The colour black is associated with death because it is a dark colour. Death is usually a dark topic. The grim reaper also wears black and is seen as the bringer of death. Canadians wear the poppy on November 11th over their hearts. This is sign of respect towards the soldiers. The poppy is over our hearts to show we appreciate the sacrifice they made. And that we are mourning for the loss of them. The saying that comes with the poppy is “lest we forget”. This means that we should never forget these soldiers. And if we do we will also lose our appreciation of the freedom that we have. As Canadians, we are lucky that we had these hero’s who fought for us years ago so that things are the way they are today

I think the picture that best represents heroes would be the poppy because the poppy is the symbol or bravery and “heroism” the poppy represents all the blood that was shed just for us. the poppy represents all of the Hard work from all of the men that were forced to fight. And the poppy represents bravery because, well can you imagine having no choice but to go into a war and are go up against against all odds of survival “for us”. For a lot of people, there was no coming back. For some people sadly death didn't even death on the battle field looked like paridice for some people. some people were tortured and beaten just for things like information.

the poppy represents pain and sacrifice all for something that we call freedom so thats why i think the poppy represents heroism the most out of all the pictures on the screen.

By: E.W.

In my opinion, the visual that best represents the theme of “heroes” is visual A. Visual A is a sign representing firefighters and fire fighters are people that save us from fire without caring for their life. The sign is red and black in colour. In my opinion, the red and black symbolizes fear and fire. The bottom half of the sign has red flames which also represents fire. Then there is writing in the middle of the sign in white that says, “Real Heroes Don’t Wear Capes”. To me the white colour of the font represents light. The white represents that the firefighters are there to help and protect us from the fire. The writing “Real Heroes Don’t Wear Capes” is a very appropriate quote in this situation. The heroes in this situation are firefighters and they don’t wear capes. On the top half of sign there is a firefighter’s shield. In the middle of the shield there is an axe, a ladder, a firefighter’s hat, and other equipment that fire fighters use. This shows us what the firefighters need to help them save us. The shield had arrow like shapes pointing the all four directions making the shield look like a cross. The cross symbolizes medical help. The arrow on top of the shield that is pointing upwards has the word fire in it. The word represents the issue in this cause. On the bottom of the shield the arrow pointing downwards has the word rescue telling us that they are there to help us. The arrow on the left side has a fire hydrant and right side there is a medical staff inside the arrow, which also symbolizes help. Because of all these reasons, visual A is the best visual to represent the theme of “Heroes”.

~D.P.

All the pictures listed obviously represent heroes but picture b is definitely sending me the strongest message! The picture is of a police officer who looks like he is responding to some type of crime scene. I can tell that this is happening because of the look of determination and focus that he holds on his face and the way that he looks like he is running fast towards something. He also looks like he is about to pull something out of his belt such as a gun or a taser! He even is seen wearing a bullet proof vest which tells me that he is willing to put himself in danger to protect others which is a huge sign of a hero. The car in the background tells me that he drove to a scene to get there quicker than if he was to walk or run. The main colour in this photo that catches my eye is the dark navy blue that he is seen wearing and is on his official police vehicle. To me, this colour represents safety and reassurance because it is a calming and soothing colour which is great because when people see it they might become calmer if they were just involved or witness a crime. The scenery in the background appears to be an area with many trees. I believe that this represents that police will go anywhere at anytime to tend to a crime.

Basically when we see a colour blue with a black and white it represents police officers.First, I would like to start to its colour. Its colour which is blue represents peace, because every time that they got into fight against criminals, they always want to protect us against them make a peace. The police vest symbolized as shield, because they protect us from getting shot. The Visual’s line represents kindness and sacrifice, because they are willing their lives to be taken to protect us and to keep us safe as we are. So even though that sometimes police officers are being mean to us we should also appreciate what they’ve done to the community.

T.D (A slot) The visual I think represents the theme of heroes the best is image G because the writings on her shirt says how long she works and cares for her child, the mum is carrying the boy even when he can walk to protect him, how much she loves and adores her son is seen on her face through her smile. The writing on her shirt says 24.7.365=mum, it means 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year, that is how long a mum has to work for, she doesn’t take holiday vacations, no sick breaks, she doesn’t have days where she is off, she has no time to rest if her baby is not resting, she doesn’t eat if her child is not eating, she doesn’t sleep if her child cannot sleep. A mother is a nurse, cook, cleaner, driver, protector, she has so many jobs she cannot take a day off for her self. In the picture the mum brought her son to the play ground, to mix with other kids, and have a nice time because that is what he wants he wants to play and the mum has no choice but to take him there even if she feels tired she still has to take him there because that is what is best for her son. The mom is carrying her son even when he can walk to protect him because she thinks he will be safer in her hands, she believes she would be able to protect her son from falling, getting bitten by insects, picking up dirty things from the floor, etc. She is holding him close to her heart because that is where he belongs. A mother’s love for her child is immeasurable. The smile on the lady’s face shows how much she loves her son and how much she cares for him, she is excited to be holding her child. This image shows how much a mother loves and cares for her child, she is always happy to be with and to hold her child no matter the circumstance.I think this picture did a good job explain what a hero especially by using a mother, a mother will always protect her child no matter what happens and I think mums are the bravest heroes we could ever get. .

Women go through so much pain when we are in their stomachs and when we are about to be born. Though they go through a lot of pain giving birth to us she still love us unconditionally. She has been there for us since we were born and will still be there for us now, no matter what problem you have, you can always talk to her and she will say her true honest opinion, unlike the people you think you are friends with. She cares so much for us and sacrifice so much for us. She is also extremely selfless and will help us along the way. In this image she still has a big smile on her face even though she is probably tired and stressed this shows that she loves her son very much.

I think that picture E best represents the theme “heroes.” Firstly, In the picture you can see a poppy. The poppy is used to represent all the people who died fighting for our lives and freedom during war. the poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope. It is worn over the heart by millions of people around the world in commemoration of those who fought and died during war. This symbol was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in the battle field. Also, the picture is mostly red, and white. These are the colours of the Canadian flag. I believe the artist did this on purpose to represent how brave and selfless many Canadians are.Least we forget-these are three words to show our remembrance to those who fought and died fighting for our freedom.

The visual that represents a hero the best is G. Visual G is a picture of a mom and her baby. Moms sacrifice a lot their children. they stay up late until you fall asleep, they make all your bottles, food and change your diapers and make sure you have clothes on your back and that you are well fed. Mothers do a lot for their children like staying up late. Babies only sleep from a couple of hours at a time so you never get a full night of sleep. You have to hold them until they have fallen asleep. If your lucky your baby will sleep for 4-6 hours during the night but that’s only on a good day. Sometimes it will be 3:00 in the morning and the baby is crying and wants food.Your mother makes all your bottles and or beast feeds you. She will also change your dirty diapers and your clothes. They hold you when your crying. Your mom will make sure you get better when your sick. Your mother makes sure you are loved and taken care of.Everyday when your little your mother will dress you and change your diaper. She will take care of you when you’re sick or not feeling well. Your mom makes sure your fed everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner. She will make sure you have new clothes when your old ones are to small.
The visual that best represents theme hero’s is photo “G” the one with a mom and her child. The reasons why I chose this one is because it shows a mother cares for her child, and she is reading him/her a book. There is a shape of a play structure in the background, so they are out having fun. There is the colour green in the background, and green means good, healthy, also there is trees and bushes in the background. And mothers care for their children like all the time, and mothers will do anything for their kids like for example I think they would risk their lives for their kids if they are in a really, really, really bad situation, because if I had a child or children and they where in a pretty bad situation I would risk my life for him/her/them because it’s my child and I would do anything for my child.

(Visual A) This image is a good representation of heroes because of its colors, lines and symbolism. The red in the picture can represent the color of flames like the flames firefighters put out. The red can also represent the color of a firetruck, or even the blood that is seen during an accident. On the sign there are two colors red and black together they can represent fear. The words are trying to tell us that heroes aren’t only in comic books or movies but in real life. Without firefighters what would regular people do when there was a fire or an accident? There are flames in this image representing firefighter’s jobs. Being a firefighter can be scary but when you are saving lives and homes everyday it’s worth it in the end. At the top of the sign there is an emblem that says “fire” and “rescue” with a fire hydrant, a helmet, an axe, a ladder and the star of life all things that we can connect to with firefighters. The star of life symbolizes paramedics or help. These are all reason for why visual A is the best representation for the theme of “Heroes.”

AK( B slot)What is a hero? A hero is someone or something that people look up to or admire. Sometimes a hero can do something amazing and outstanding like saving a child from a burning building. Or a hero can do something small like a parent reading to his or her child at night. A hero can be a lot of things but in my personal opinion the person that best represents a “hero” is a firefighter (Picture C).In this photograph, the lady firefighter is wearing a firefighter jacket and holding a helmet. Although you can not see a fire truck, the red object behind her immediately makes you picture a fire truck with its lights flashing and its sirens roaring. The reds and yellows in this photo capture the idea of a firefighter.I believe that a firefighter is a great representation of a hero. Their job is to save people of all ages from burning buildings and to respond to other emergencies including accidents and medical emergencies. For a firefighter, its not their job that makes them a hero, its their willingness to risk their own life to save another person they don’t even know.Another thing that stands out to me in this picture is that the firefighter is a woman. Most firefighters tend to be men, so I can see that she would have to be very strong and brave to be female firefighter. In conclusion, a firefighter is a true hero. Firetrucks, firehalls and the uniforms that the firefighters wear are all symbols of heroes.

In my opinion the visual that best represents the theme of hero’s is letter C, the firefighter. Firefighters risk their own lives to save the lives of other people. They have enough courage and bravery to go into burning buildings and respond to emergency situations. In the photograph of the firefighter, there is a red fire truck in the background. When I see the colour red I think of blood, danger, and fire. Fire trucks also have a siren on top of them that flashes red that tells people they are responding to an emergency. The firefighter is also wearing a special jacket to protect herself from fire and is holding a helmet to insure she is safe when doing her job. The orange and white reflective lines on the firefighter’s jacket are used for safety when responding to an emergency at night or entering a dark building. In conclusion, I believe firefighters are hero’s every time they respond to an emergency and put their lives in danger.

Visual E best represents the theme of hero’s. visual E has a strong meaning of symbolism dedicated to hero’s because the poppy resembles WWII and WWI. In the world wars, Canadian soldiers fought on and threw fields of poppies to stop the Nazis and Canadian solders that died were buried with a poppy on there grave . it also resembles a flower. And usually when someone passes away or any type of loss we bring flowers in respect. The colour of the poppy is red witch is usually associated with bravery. Witch makes it a perfect resemblance for all the war vets whom fought and risked ther lives for ourcountry and other countrys.
