         <description><![CDATA[<p>Our pēpi are born with tapu &amp; mana, and hold it throughout their lives. </p><ul><li><p>Every interaction with the tamariki in our care needs to respect their tapu &amp; mana. </p></li><li><p>As Kaiako, we need to be grounded and role-model the gentle and respectful ways we want our tamariki to grow-up with.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Tā te tamariki tāna mahi wāwāhi tahā - It is the job of the children to smash the calabash.</p><p><br></p><p>Our tamariki are going to break rules, make mistakes and 'be naughty' - that's their job as kids. </p><p><br></p><p>Our job is to explain what they did wrong, and how they can do better next time.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Our tūpuna had tikanga for all parts of life, and so can we. </p><ul><li><p>As Kaiako, our education settings often include much tikanga, but new situations can arise which can require new guidance. </p></li><li><p>Tikanga works best if its communicated clearly with our tamariki, and they are praised for following it. </p></li><li><p>Showing special acknowledgement for tamaiti who go above and beyond in following tikanga helps role model that behaviour for others.</p></li></ul>]]></description>
