<title>The first things that come in to my mind when I hear the word painting are brushes and canvas. I am not fully aware on how to appreciate paintings before. I have observed paintings locally and internationally when I go to museums. I know famous artists like Juan Luna, Nestor Leynes and Benedicto Cabrera. I am aware of classical paintings and artworks made for the Church, like the &quot;Last Judgement&quot;. I am also familiar with Raphael and Michaelangelo. The famous Monalisa painting is also familiar to me. </title>

<title>After learning about the topic on painting, it made me realised how beautiful artworks are. I wanted to learn more on contemporary paintings, especially the abstract themes. i would like to learn different styles, techniques and painters of the modern era. I would also like to learn on Filipino cultural paintings and how the subjects are represented. I would also like to know more about on the canvas and materials being used and how these contribute to the beauty of the paintings. It captures my attention how 3-D paintings gives illusion and I&#39;d like to learn more about that.</title>

<title>Here are my learnings after the module: There are two types of balance. 1.) Formal Balance ; which shows balance pull of elements. Good example for this is when we put a line of symmetry it will give us the mirror like image. The very similar elements on opposite sides will give a central axis. 2.) Informal balance; which has differing elements on opposite sides but nevertheless gives an equal pull of elements. One example of this is Michelangelo&#39;s The Creation of Adam is wonderfully balanced: Adam and the earth have the same visual weight as God and the choir of angels. Another one is the Emphasis and Subordination. Some elements or area of the painting becomes the focal point for the viewer. My best example for this is The Dormition of the Virgin, which emphasises Mary through contrast, position and balance. High Renaissance paintings also caught my attention because of the difference with the vigorous and dramatic movement of Baroque. For example is The Birth of Venus in renaissance that shows harmony, balance and focus for the viewer. </title>
