Are the races similar or more different? We think the races are more different because in the Soap Box Derby the competitors are trying to have fun AND win so they can go to Akron, but in Spit Nolan's story, it is more competitive in a more serious way. They are not competing to win and go to Akron, but competing to win their pride. Also, in Spit Nolan's story the race is not as formal as the national championships in the other story. The Spit Nolan was just a gang of people who like racing, not a national competition. I believe this because they both start out with creating a car/trolley. Another reason is that there are two competitors racing versus each other. One huge diversity is that the soapbox race uses motor less race carts while the Spit Nolan race uses trolley carts. We also believe that the soapbox race is more formal and is also important than the Spit Nolan race which is less organized and wasn't a big event for the public to join in. We know this thanks to the first text saying that kids 8-17 years old are allowed to join. The race also includes division like the stock and super stock division. The Spit Nolan race was also a one shot deal while the Soapbox race has and still is being done over and over. The text for Spit Nolan never mentioned this type of racing was done over and over again while the Soapbox race explains their were many races like the All-American. The carts in Spit Nolan unlike the Soapbox race were actually named. I figured this out because in the text referencing the Spit Nolan story says the carts were named The British Queen and Egdum. Overall, the two races are extremely diverse from one another.
