Louise Bourgeois

This portrait was taken by Annie Leibovitz the lady in this image is Louise Bourgeois the French-American artist an sculpture.

What is it?
This image is a profile of Louise Bourgeois a famous artist an sculpture.

What is it about?
It is known that Annie Leibovitz photographs peoples body parts showing a story behind it. In this image i think the picture shows louise bourgeois hard working hands after years of being an artist an sculptur. The image is focus making it easy to see dimples an creases in her hand. I also think that the way Louise Bourgeois is positioned makes her look powerful the over all feeling of this image is serious feeling.

What is happening?
In this image louise bourgeois body language is giving me the impression that she is a powerful women. The way her hand is gives me a feeling to not interrupt her overall her posture is a very aggressive. I also think the fact her eyes are closed an her lips are clenched together makes it look serious as the eyes an mouth are the main features of the face an if they are both shut it gives an impression of seriousness.

where an when was it taken?
This image was taken in New york . The year this image was taken was 1997.

What do you think that the relationship between the photographer and the subject is?
I think the relationship with both artists are that the are both hard working artists. An both are very independent strong women. Also both of their work shows how much they are unique in their own way.

What does the photograph represent?
I think Annie Leibovitz chose Louise Bourgeois because just from this image i feel like she's a powerful independent women. The way she is positioned gives of the impression that she dosent want to be interrupted. The way she has no eye contact makes the feeling that much more powerful due to the seriousness look on her face an the hand gesture just adds to it.

What has the photographer called the photograph?
The photograph is titled as Louise Bourgeois, 1997

Does the tittle change the way we see the photograph?
The tittle gives you the name of the well known painter/ sculptor Louise Bourgeois.

Is it a realistic depiction?
I think this is a realistic depiction of the french-american artist/scup[ltor louise bourgeois.

Have any parts been exaggerated or distorted? if so, Why?
In the dark room process Annie Leibovitz used a creative technique to enhcane the contrast especially on the hair an around the wrist/sleeve.

What is the theme of the photograph?
This is a portrait of Louise Bourgeois. It gives you an insight of how she is powerful an serious.

What message does the photograph communicate?
This photograph is communicating to the viewers by showing Louise Bourgeois is an independent women an is powerful. In my opinion my eyes wa straight away attacked to her hand i think her hand shows the her age in not only by how old she is but also how much her hands have been used over the years an damaged from years of sculpting.

Does the colour, texture, form, does the photograph affect your mood? How and Why?

Colour: In this picture certain parts of the image are dark an in other places the image id bright. Especially the hair an around the wrist is the darkest parts in the image while everywhere else is lighter.

Texture: The texture in this image is in depth especially the wrinkles on her face, hands an wrist shows her age. I also think the creases in her shirt show the texture of the creases and the roughness of the shirts materials. There is also texture in her hair as you can see the hair line and the hair looks rough an dry.

Form: There is form in this image in the hair line where her hair has been brushed back by her ear as you can see its raised. There is also firm in the face where the wrinkles are in great detail/depth.

The photograph makes me want to know more about Louise Bourgeois as she leaves me feeling curious about who she is as a person. I think in this image she
