         <description><![CDATA[<div>We used this step in the lab to represent the first real life step in Wastewater Treatment - removal of large solid wastes. We used tea bag clippings, tea leaves, rocks, and other larger objects to represent objects we would see being removed from the wastewater like diapers an other objects that end up in the water.</div>]]></description>

Large objects that make it's way into the water get caught in this screen and get removed from the wastewater. They are removed so they don't cause damage to the pipes.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Grit Removal</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In step two (Grit Removal), we poured the contents from the Grit Chamber into the PST beaker. We did this step to remove solid wastes even further than step one. We were careful to leave all grit behind and leave the mixture in the PST beaker for 1 minute. This step was to represent the Grit Removal step in real life, which removes all grit from the wastewater.</div>]]></description>

I don't believe we officially preformed this step in our lab but the closest to it would be pouring the finished product down the drain.</div>]]></description>
