Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were charged with conspiracy. They were accused of sharing secret information with Russia regarding the atomic bomb. The Jewish communist couple lived in Southern District, New York at the time. Years later they did find that Julius had shared information with Russia that indeed helped them with the process of the atomic bomb. However there was little to no evidence regarding Ethel's involvement. Greenglas (Ethel's brother), who testified in her trial admitted later that he altered the truth a bit. The Rosenberg's were found guilty. They were sentenced to death in 1953. The court held them responsible for the Korean War. This event was significant because it occurred during the war and the atomic bomb could have been used against the United States and ending many many lives.
