In order to create an illusion of a real person in regards to pre-recorded footage, it is essential that you know what you have pre-recorded well, so you know the placement you need when it comes too moving outside of the projection screen - giving your character legs, arm, etc, that stretch off-screen. We decided to use a combination of projections which reflected the setting in which our scene takes place, as well as some which reflected a mood more than a location. For example, we liked the idea of using the formation of boxes to create a police car, with a number plate on the front box and sirens on the sides. After trying a few different formations of boxes, we settled in this closed in pyramid layout. Therefore, we knew we would only be able to have a limited audience and we had to prepare for a situation in which we had no audience at all. We made sure that if we weren't going to be able to do our performance in front of an audience that it would be easy to pre-record. If we had needed to, we could have had a stationary camera at the front and done the performance as normal , and then streamed it live to a virtual audience. Luckily, our group was part of a social bubble, and therefore didn't have to adhere to the same distances as other groups.
