- Saltwater intrusion
- Land inundation

Coastal Erosion
- Natural process, however with the increase of sea water the process is fastened
- People lose their homes, also increase chance of various natural disasters damaging/destroying resources

Economy
- Rise of sea levels and loss of land also indicates loss of income (fishing, agriculture, etc)

Health
- Malnutrition, diarrhoea etc

People
- Again due to the vulnerability to natural disasters, the whole nation faces a crisis where they could be wiped out

Water
- Higher sea levels may contaminate fresh water sources
- Harsh temperature and drought-like season (before its rainy season), less access to fresh water

We believe that the international community should take more preventative measures against global warming in order to protect smaller island nations such as ourselves (Kiribati). Countries such as the United States and China have not taken enough steps in regards to limiting their greenhouse gas emission. These aforementioned countries should be leading the international effort in reducing the effects posed by climate change (e.g. rising sea levels) and encouraging international cooperation into dealing with an issue that is of global prominence.
