25-26 Bridging Histories: Integrated ENL/Social Studies/ELA

ELL educators will create project-based learning experiences that help students connect their personal history with historical events. Throughout the program, teachers will learn to support language development while bridging history, and honoring the diverse backgrounds and experiences that ELL students bring to the classroom. The Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA will be embedded throughout.

Title III consortium participant Nicole Keicher was selected to participate in the Stevens Virtual Global Exchange Program. To promote positive environmental change, as a result of her training with Take Action Global (TAG) she created and launched the student-run Kings Park HS Thrift Shop in Spring 2025. It is now in it's second year in business!

Learn how design thinking helps engage students in creative problem-solving activities. Design thinking is a flexible framework to get the most of the creative process. It's used in the arts, in engineering, and in social and civic spaces. But how do we make this happen for students? Dr. John Spencer will walk you step-by-step through the structures and strategies to boost student ownership in the design process.

23-24 Collaborative Approaches for Multilingual Student Success

Using Dr. Andrea’s Honigsfeld collaborative approaches and co-planning strategies as a foundation, educators will work together to co-design a project-based learning experience for their students. Our EdTech coaches will guide educators in identifying the UN Sustainability Goals that will be incorporated into their project design. Educators will be encouraged to design a project based learning experience using the Dr. John Spencer’s Launch Cycle. Time will be given to co-plan and/or work on these projects during the on-site and virtual sessions.
