Differentiated instruction is a strategy that I will use within my own classroom and students. I will always remember that this strategy is not an individualized plan. It is not catering to just one child and changing things all around for one child, but it is keeping ways of learning unique and different for all so all students have a shot of understanding. This allows the concept to click for some students as it may have not before with the original lesson that was distributed. An important thing that was mentioned in the video is that this strategy is a way to plan for the unpredictability that occurs in the classroom. I feel as if this is a good way to look at it and can make the challenges have a positive side to it and ensure the teacher always has a plan or feels put together with their students. Another thing I will always remember is my mentor using this strategy with sub groups on their levels of performance and since shes implemented this shes had 8 students in one school year go from proficient score testing to advanced.

One thing I'll always remember about differentiating instruction is how important it is to adapt teaching to fit each student's unique needs and how we all learn in different ways. This means changing what we learn, how fast we learn it, and how we're tested to make sure every student can do well and improve. It's like making sure school is all about each of us and how we learn best, and it helps everyone get more involved and understand things better.

The teacher improvises for the misunderstandings of the lesson plan.

Something that I will remember from the video is that it is important for us to realize that improvising during lessons does not always work best. It is very important to preplan and expect that differentiation will be needed.

Taking time to help them, whether it be an extra worksheet, or being a support by sitting down with them as they work. Everyone is not at the same level in a subject, and being aware of that and improvising to help the student during something in regards to support and getting the student to feel like they can get that support or help is very important. In my observation class, one of the students wasn't really used to computers and how they work. Using their Chromebook, I observed my mentor teacher going up to the kid and calming her down and showing her what to do. It can be with content or even things like that.

One of the first things said in this video about differentiated instruction was that "differentiation is planning for unpredictability in the classroom." I found that to be rather profound as that is not a way I have looked at differentiated instruction before, but it makes a lot of sense that it would be used to combat unpredictibility in student abilities every year. Once I have a differentiated set of plans, I can use them year after year to help all of my students and be more prepared to handle difficult content topics and subjects.
