Hi everyone. My name is Alina, I'm from Ramat-Gan lately. I expect this course to give me instruments how to help my students talk, feel free to say what they have to say and learn how to listen to their opponents. I hope to teach them be good speakers and attentive listeners. And here's my question: what is the best way to teach them to speak up considering that English is not their native language and they don't feel free finding necessary words, leave alone arguments?

I have many expectations from this course mainly because I want to help my struggling students to overcome the shyness and fear barriers they face when they want/ have to speak. I feel that the lack of speaking proficiencies prevents and holds my students back. for this reason, I would like to get to know and utilize public speaking skills.

Hello everyone, I'm Moran Zontag from Azrikam (a tiny Moshav surrounded by Ashdod/Gan Yavne/Kiryat Malachi). It's my first Debate course and I'm in the search for tools that might help me encourage and promote English speaking among my students (who seem to be quite opinionated when it comes to their mother tongue). My question is a rather simple one: Practically, how do I teach debate in the classroom?
Well, maybe I have another question. Are there any existing tools to help them overcome the anxiety resulted from having the need to stand in front of an audience?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEC1C4p0k3E&ab_channel=CBS

I chose this inspirational video not because of its content, but due to the fact that I remember it from my childhood (my father made me watch it - I'm only 36 years old). Hearing JFK saying "ask not what your country can do for you...." still echoes in my ears.

I expect this course to provide me useful tools that will enrich my students and myself included because after all, the real power lies within the words we use and how we use them. I hope the tools we get are practical enough to encourage anyone to use, no just pupils - but literally everyone because, knowing how to express yourself in a convincing manner is one the best benefits one can ask for. Speaking of "Express Yourself" I have chosen a speech by Madonna. Trust me, she has a lot to say and for all the women out there, I strongly recommend you to watch it. As of now, I guess my questions are pretty much the same questions others have asked before... (how to teach this topic in EFL classrooms) so I don't have other questions, but I do hope the tasks won't be overbearing because in order to keep things fluent and engaging we need to keep it simple yet meaningful :-) Hope to get to know you all through this platform and learn, and be able to pass it on with new tools, and perhaps even laugh at times.

This is also my question.
A great oration movie that I watch repeatedly is A Few Good Men, where Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise's courtroom scenes are spellbinding.

I'm Alla Ermoline from Rishon le Zion. I hope that the course will put my scattered knowledge of the subject in order and help me to transfer it to kids. My question is how to teach the kids to be good listeners because I am sure that a good listener makes a good speaker. I have attached here one of the videos with Margaret Thatcher because her speeches are always clear, concise and convincing.

I'm Sharona Schwartz from Haifa. In this course, I aim to find ways to motivate my students which is a perennial challenge. My main questions about debate revolve around the idea of "Clash" - how to explain it and how to implement it.
I was recently introduced to this inspirational video which demonstrates the versatility of language and how expectations based on first impressions can often be wildly wrong. I look forward to virtually meeting you.
