I used the scrap paper to lead the eye towards (movement) the two points of emphasis. I created these points by using the paper to frame them and then using bright blue post its to make it stand out. I also ripped up a magnet to make two larger squares and two smaller ones to provide contrast. I also used the small rocks to provide balance by placing the same amount on opposite ends of the sculpture in similar looking places. In the second sculpture I used the glass and rocks to provide a point of emphasis with the bright color. I used the wooden dowels to show movement and lead the eye towards the point of emphasis. I also used the magnets and post its to provide balance by placing them on either side so when the sculpture is cut in half horizontally it is somewhat symmetrical.

In both images I used a point of emphasis that draws your eye twords the center. In the image on the left I used rhythm with the purple flowers because the pattern continues with slight change. I used movement with the stick and leaves which lead your eye to one point of emphasis to to other. There is balance seen in the right image because the flowers are all spaced out equally.

I used movement lead your eye around the pieces. I also used emphasis to draw your eyes to the one item standing out, by using the stippling technique with the objects. I used unity by using jewelry and other accessories as a theme, and I used rhythm by using different accessories. I used balance by making my sculptures radical, and I used contrast by placing them in different positions each time. Finally, I used pattern by using different objects, but using red items all throughout the piece.

In the first sculpture (the one to the right), I used emphasis to lead your eye to the flower (you have to click on it to see the image more clearly - right now, it's a bit blurry). In the first image, I also used balance because everything is somewhat symmetric, and also unity because everything is in a circle. In the second sculpture, I used movement to lead the eye to the flower. I also used emphasis because the flower was the main point of the sculpture. Finally, I used rhythm with the rubber bands and erasers, because they added something interesting to the sculpture.

The emphasis in this image is the red triangle. The leaves help in guiding the eye toward the emphasis, therefore showing movement. Contrast is shown by the bright red triangle and the dark green leaves. Rhythm is shown by the change of direction of the leaves.

I used pencils, dominoes, and a rubber ball to create both of my design. In my first design I used movement by leading your eye up the tower and to the end of my design which would be the rubber ball. I used rythem by repeating the same pattern over and over again until I got to the end. In my design the rubber ball was intended to be my point of emphasis, the point were your eye would travel to when you first see the design.
