-Grade 2

- Social Studies

-SSP .06: "Develop geographic awareness by: Identifying geographic symbols on maps and globes, understanding relationships between people, places and resources"

- homework reimagined idea: students walk or drive around their neighborhood with a family/community adult partner, taking notes of things they see (places, business, parks, schools, community centers, etc.). Students create a map of their neighborhood and surrounding resources (include both drawings, labels, map key, etc.). Looking at their map creation, students write about what resource on their map they think is most important. Finally, students share their ideas with their family/ community adult partner, and ask their partner to respond to the same question: which resource on their map is most important in their opinion?
