Louise Banks (Amy Adams), the linguist, is the heart of the film. She is responsible for supporting humanity, while revealing the viewer that 'Arrival' is not about the aliens, but the way in which their visit impacts humanity. This story also breaks the conventional narrative with a series of flashbacks into the protagonist’s life. Louise’s memories let out her motivations and explains, to some extent, her decision-making.

Another captivating element is that this film is the opposite of being the typical alien invasion. Here, there is no mass destruction of humanity, but a story that appeals to our amazement and imagination.

Making this long story short, this is a film that masterfully combines its logical side with strong emotional moments. There is nothing wrong or not entirely positive for me to say about it. 'Arrival' is a worthwhile watch, which will change the way you think about both the extraterrestrial life and communication. Only after I watched ‘Arrival’ did I conclude this is a masterpiece of science fiction and cinema.  

It is supposed that Daphne should find a husband during the balls of the season. However, her older brother has arranged her marriage to an old rich man (Nigel). At a dance, she accidentally meets a handsome man. After talking briefly, she realizes he is her brother´s best friend: Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page)

Throughout this series, different situations occur between Daphne, Simon and Nigel .In a brilliant scene, Simon kisses Daphne. Unfortunately, Daphne’s brother sees them. Following the rules of this society, he forces them to marry .However, some issues from the past and others from the present cause the characters to have disagreements and misunderstandings that with the help of secondary characters will be resolved.

 If you want to immerse yourself in a love story with a pinch of drama, do not miss it!. The downside is that there are some details which are not according to the period, but they are quickly forgotten when you see the luxurious and exquisite costumes, the beautiful scenes and the marvellous performances.

After many toxic situations, Rachel and Ares fall in love and start a romance. I strongly recommend you watching this film if you like youth novels, fantasy or maybe to be aware of toxic relationships. 

In 1945, after coming back from WWII where Claire (Caitriona Balfe) served as a nurse for the British Army, she and her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) travel from London to a small town in Scotland as a second honeymoon. Claire and Frank go through the town amazed by the stories that the people and the ruins tell them about the town’s history until they come across some ancient stone circles in the middle of the forest. When exploring the whereabouts of the place, Claire hears a strong buzzing that leads her to the stones and suddenly, when she wakes up, she finds out she is in 1743. 

This exceptional story is a surprising mix of fantasy, love and history, full of plot twists that will blow your mind. All seasons but the sixth one are available on Netflix. So if you want to learn more about British history but at the same time follow an exciting love story, then you will love Outlander.

    The main character is Jay Pritchett, the patriarch of the family. He takes care of every member of his family, his wife Gloria and her son Manny, his siblings Claire and Mitchell and their own families too. They’re a very affectionate and caring family since not only Jay takes care of everyone, but they among them take care of each other. 

     It’s not me who says this series is truly amazing but the 22 Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe for the best series of 2012, apart from a lot more awards and a long list of nominations. 

    This series truly portrays many of the issues modern families have to go through. Some examples are: adulthood, youth, homosexuality, adoption, etc. It doesn’t have any kind of aggression or violence, so it’s perfect for a relaxing moment on your own or with your family. 

Contrary to what can be inferred from the series title, it is not only about death at the hands of the walkers, but as the story unfolds, new villains emerge among the living ones. Throughout the eleven seasons, a long string of events reveals human miseries, since due to the desperation to survive, it is the humans who end up being more dangerous in this new way of living, without limits or laws.  Themes of family, friendship and even faith rise up almost as frequently as the dead do.

It is settled in Atlanta (U.S), and every time a conflict arises between different surviving communities, new main characters show up.

In short, it is interesting to see how in a world of despair, human beings always find a reason to continue thinking about a promising future, despite realizing that one of the greatest threats is the human race itself. I definitely recommend watching this series in order to be aware of how selfish people can be, just because of power.

 

I just finished watching the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, released in 2022. This is a movie based on the Marvel comics, and it was promoted across the country as a huge hit. The movie doesn't start as one would expect, but it's worth waiting a bit before passing judgment.

The movie finds the God of Thunder on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced, one of self-discovery. But his efforts are interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who, to Thor’s surprise, inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor (The official site for Marvel movies, characters, comics, TV 2022)

Excellent performances by well-known actors from the first second made this an epic movie. But the first 15 minutes weren't necessarily to my liking despite the good performances. I did not expect so much parody and ridiculous scenes that gradually led the movie to the comedy category instead of a blockbuster Marvel movie with the self-confident God Thor. Then, the humanization of the God of thunder did nothing but sink my expectations.

When I was about to stop watching the movie, things became much more serious and deeper.That renewed my expectations and I gave it another chance.From the middle of the movie, things start to focus more on Jane and Thor and show how their relationship begins to mature.

Prepare yourself  to laugh, cry, and be surprised. The plot will slowly immerse you into the story. Standout performances by Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, and Christian Bale will draw you into the story and lead you to think deeply about your purpose in life.

Nader (Peyman Moadi) and Simin (Leila Hatami) are an unhappily married couple who lives in Tehran. They have an 11-years-old daughter, Termeh, whose sensitivity leads Simin to propose leaving the country. By doing this, she expects her child would have more opportunities to reach a prosperous life. They agree to move abroad, however, Nader changes his decision. He wants to stay for his senil father's sake. His decision resulted in Simin asking him to divorce. Although they live under Islamic laws and traditions, Nader and Simin are extremely modern and open-minded. 

Simin ends up leaving the house, Nader ends up looking after his father till he finds a caregiver, Razieh (Sareh Bayat), because… Who is going to do women's work if his wife is not there? Razieh has a little child, but maybe the most important fact is that Razieh, who married a violent and strict Muslim man that is against of women working, keep many secret hidden. This poor muslim woman without any training looks after the confused elderly man. As a consequence of her lack of training, she ties the old man to his bed and leaves the house, of course, she has a reason. Nader, after discovering the situation, has a discussion with her and she falls down the stairs. At this points, it seems that nothing is going well with our protagonist, Nader is accused of miscarriage. Razieh's husband sues him and many witnesses give their testimony. It is not easy to put all the pieces together, the witnesses have only seen just a part of the story. 

Farhadi treats sympathy with excellence. It is impossible to take a position when he shows the point of view of each character. Moreover, Moadi and Hatami's performance are magnificent, they are convincing and you can easily perceive every feeling from the characters  in each situation. What's more, it is worth watching the wonderful camera movements implemented to smoothly change perspectives which influence the audience's feelings. 

Malcolm is a 12-year-old boy played by Frankie Muniz, who is part of an amusing and unfit American family. He is the main character as he often breaks the fourth wall to narrate parts of the episodes and to talk straight to us viewers. Malcolm's mother and father are also portrayed by well-known actors: Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston.

The series tells the story of Malcolm dealing with his unconventional family. It explores the family's bizarre interactions with their neighbours and friends, too. However, through Malcolms actions, we will soon notice that he is indeed a chip off the old block. 

So, if you need a good laugh, on no account should you deprive yourself from coming across this series. Many scenes that are as fun as a barrel of monkeys will stay carved in your memory.

The story is set in early 1980s Dublin. A shy boy called Cosmo is sent by his parents to a new Christian school, and after a bad school day, he saw her. A beautiful girl was standing in front of the school. He walked across the street, introduced himself and after a while he returned to his friend with the idea of creating a band. The main objective was to impress the girl.

During the movie, we are going to watch how Cosmo found some members for his band and how they managed to create authentic songs and film some videos. We are going to witness how their outfit changes throughout the film as they learn about great music.
