What You'll Need is
  • Dough:
  • 1 package active dry yeast (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour              
  • pinch salt
  • Topping:
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • Browned ground beef or Italian sausage, broken up 
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms, drained 
  • Thinly sliced green pepper and onions, optional 
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 to 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese or a blend of Mozzarella and Cheddar
How to Make It
1.     Heat the oven to 400 F.
2.     Add yeast to the water and stir until dissolved. Add sugar, oil, flour, and salt. 
        Set mixing bowl filled with dough in warm water for 5 minutes to rise. 
        Pat dough out on a well-greased pizza pan or cookie sheet.
3.     Layer toppings on dough in the order listed.
4.     Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the crust is browned.

I learned that he was the first family member to come to the United States from Italy. His name was Generos Muro. He dreamed of coming to America, making money, and living the American dream. He left his parents and migrated from Italy for a new life in America. He left Italy as a stowaway. He made his home in Boston Massachusetts where he began working in a textile factory in order to make a living. Shortly after arriving in Massachusetts he met an American woman whom he married. Together they had four children, three daughters and one son.  His wife became ill and died very young leaving him a widow with four young children. Soon after the death of his wife he was introduced to my great grandmother Beatrice. She was Italian but born in America. They soon married. Together they had six children, four girls and two boys one being my grandfather Thomas. Together they raised his 4 children from his first marriage and the 6 children he had with my great grandmother. My great grandfather worked very hard to support his wife and 10 children. My great grandfather died in his early forties of a heart attack. My grandfather was the youngest of the ten children and was only two years old when my great grandfather died. I now have great respect for my great grandfather.
