Computers are an important part of modern education, however large amounts of the population – especially minority and low-income children don't have access to a computer at home. they tested this hypothesis using data from a field experiment with 1,123 schoolchildren where they randomly provided free computers for home use. Although the program significantly increased computer ownership and use, they found no effects on any educational outcomes, including grades, test scores, credits earned, attendance and discipline.
