Colonizer: Spain and United States.
Colonized: Philippine Islands

Philippine Islands became a Spanish colony in 1521 but it became to be colonized in 1565. The population became to protest against the parent colony (Spain) and USA supported them and finally in 1898 the Islands where sold to USA
Philippine Islands where very important for the Spanish economy, Spain imported precious metals and foods which didn´t exist in Spain. For USA it was an strategic point for the USA army controlling part of Asia also they helped the native people of the Philippines which had terrible conditions of living and which wanted to be no longer a colony of Spain.
Philippine natives were treated as subhumans and a most of the were forced to work the land and in mines.

Spain started to colonize it in 1565 when they formed the first European settlement in Cebu. Finally on 1 May of 1898 Commodore George Dewey defeated Spain near Manila during the Spanish-American war. -Independence of Spain:  As the population of the islands wanted the independence USA helped them at the Spanish-American War in which America defeated Spain, Spain was forced to sign the Teatry of Paris in which the last Spanish colonies (including philippines) where sold to USA. USA plans where not only to help the islands for its independence from Spain but to have it like a colony so it became part of USA.
-Idependence of USA: when the Philippines became part of USA the population rebelled which resulted to a brutal war: the Philippine-American War which was won by USA. Thanks to the creation of  the Philippine Assembly the first formal and official declaration of the United States Independance was created and finally in 1946 Philippine Islands became independent.

The most important person in both independances was  Emilio Aguinaldo who was the leader of the philippines. He led his country to achieve independence after fighting off both the Spanish and the Americans. Many spanish ancestors marries with native people, thats why a lot of people have Spanish surname.
Spanish people influenced to the Filipino people in things like music, literature and poems.
