The difference of the 1960s and today is that the 1960s had more expansion and promises to the up coming The New Deal. As today, in the government, we have more enforced laws and better health care and better economics. The similarity of the 1960s and today, is we still have racial problems with blacks, Hispanics, and etc. We also still have violence and still have problems have people are still protesting.

Some major differences are the segregation, back then there was still segregation and the white people still seemed to get more, thankfully they fixed that and blacks and whites live now in the same neighborhoods with the sames laws and rights. The similar things are the gangs, might have evolved a little like the MS13 is a gang that is here today and they do and say similar things, every street has some person who has stayed there for a unreasonably long time like and old grandma that had the house when she was 30, this is just like the gangs there still around but have maybe changed a little. Unfortunately there are still white supremacy's and the KKK that counter protest.

In the 1960s, many things where different, some examples are that there was a lot of segregation and discrimination back then, there were also many movements happening like women's rights, black rights, and many more. Today people are treated fairly in most cases, there is still discrimination but that's never gonna change, but it is way less. Today we also have many more rights, women's rights are now equal to men unlike in the 1960s. Some similarities are that there are still gangs, and gang fights, although they happen way less today. We also still use slang to talk, but that has also changed dramatically..

The similarities between today and the 1960's is the fact that we still have some gangs and cliques. Even though we have gangs and cliques, it still isn't as bad as the 1960's. Today, the schools tend to ask and try to help the people who look like trouble and tend to talk them out of things like gangs, or big and dangerous cliques. There has been more attention to the issue of gangs in our country

Comparing gangs, events, and people from the 1960's to now, I've learned that all the concepts in the 60's are very different from today, but most of the general ideas are similar. Gangs back then dressed up in the same clothes. They don't seem to represent any gun, or any hostile violence. Gangs in the 60's seem to have been made up of mostly white people. I'm not sure if there were segregation laws, or the colored people didn't want to participate in gang violence, but nowadays, most gangs that we see on the media, the news, and in general, they are mostly made up of colored people. Hangouts back in the 60's consisted of diners, and roller rinks. Today we have more of hanging out in malls, and shopping centers

The 60's are similar to today, in more ways than one, but one similarity is that, there are still gangs, and people who gang up on people just to show them that they're better than someone else, just like the soc's and the greasers in 'The Outsiders". Also celebrities give their kids unusual or unique names like "Ponyboy" or "SodaPop". One difference is that there is more technology, so if you think somebody is following you, you can call 9-1-1.

There are many differences and similarities between now and the 1960s. A difference is that we have a lot more technology today then back then. We also have a different vocabulary we use, different slang words. Yet we still have racism and discrimination. We still have the "rich" and "poor" It's not as bad as it used to be but still similar. Also people still disagree with the government.
