Jessica Wagner - SEL Lesson

It can be somewhat difficult to think of SEL and math lessons but I think there is room for SEL beyond math instruction and teaching students how to be effective communicators, especially in group settings. A lesson that is centered around effective communicating and listening can be done to prepare students to work in their semester math groups. During this lesson, students will do icebreakers and get to know one another on a better level, discussing interests, math skills/strengths, and general get-to-know me questions. This will play an important role in the semester so groups can work effectively and each student can be assigned a role they know they can succeed in for future projects.
