One definition is "There is an extreme form of emotion in music that transcends specific moods," this could be interpreted as music can influence our moods and change our emotions and the way we look at the world. Another definition from Ratliff is, "When a musician makes herself really small in relation to a force that guides her, and then directly transmits the force of that trust to the listener. The musician gives with transmission, the listener gives with transmission." This can be interpreted so that the musician lets the music guide her and essentially creates itself through her.
