I am indifferent to social media influencers because I think it’s up to the person to allow themselves to be influenced because you can use common sense and investigate yourself if you want to believe a certain thing or buy a certain product or follow a certain person. It’s the power of choice, but I can see that our choices can be influenced that’s why I am choosing to be indifferent because I can see the good and the bad of social media influence by the power of suggestion on people.

I am indifferent to social media influencers. Sometimes they can spread good messages and are encouraged to do so, but they are still around our age and make lots of mistakes that young people make. They can also very easily spread lies and certain views on topics to their fans with lots of bias, making the fans automatically believe what they say or buy what they buy.

Social media influencers are responsible for creating negative expectations for people physically and mentally. Influencers are often paid large amounts of money to advertise products that aren't worth it. Often these influencers only present the positives in their lives, never the negative. Creating a space where everyday people feel left out and vulnerable thinking about the imperfections of their own lives. Creating negative body expectations and mental health problems.

Social Media Influencers have a huge influence on people and how they live their normal life. There are good things to them but I believe its mainly bad. For example social media influencers can be seen as bad cause they create an unrealistic standards for normal people. This can be seen by either beauty influencers telling people what is beautiful and what isn't even though its a broad spectrum and completely subjective. Another is if they are wrong with what they say. People will believe what they hear from these types of people and just believe every word without doing any research themselves. Either the product or idea they are teaching could be wrong, a bad idea or just plain out controversial. No matter how insane the words are that they say, someone will believe them. One more problem with them is expectations, as I will admit they can help the people with this, the expectations mostly are always unrealistic for some people. The people wanna become like the influencer but 99% of the time its not possible or its just a terrible idea. People start to act like them and just forget who they are.

I believe social media influencers are a good thing because these influencers create new social platforms where they can help people in categories such as business where people can gain information that they can use in their own business. They can also help other businesses by bringing up that company on their social media account which will help boost their brand and sales. They can also create platforms that cause good debate that tv networks don't like to bring up which gives people insight on what's happening.

We as humans use social media everyday, and it can become addicting. We want to watch the news, see what is happening, and we follow these influencers. Many want to be like them because of their looks, style, etc. so they gain a large fanbase. Then, once influencers can "influence" their fans, they can switch up and exploit them very easily. People want to see drama and want to be entertained by these influencers, which is why they have such a large following.

Social media influencers has the power they do because their content is accesible to so many people. “In 2020, Orberlo found the percentage of social media users by generation using social media, millennials were a high 90.4%, Gen X with 77.5% and 48.2% of baby boomers.” This shows how many people are really affected and see the impact of social media influencers.

Social media influencers have the power that they do because of the fact that we are human. Humans are willing to listen to what others have to say and sadly a lot of use care what other think especially when it comes to our image. The reason why it is so well known is because mostly every has access to a social media outlet.

I don't think it is unfair “nearly half (47%) of surveyed influencers felt their job as an influencer had an impact on their mental health and 32% believes the platform gave them a “negative” impact on body image.” Social media influencers are a part of creating an unrealistic body image for younger kids. They also play a part in only showing the positive and fun side of life and create a fake perception of their life.

I believe they do. Anxiety, depression, and many other related mental disorders are at an all time high with a near direct correlation with use of social media. The falsehood of a fun reality and you have to do certain things to be a cool teenager creates those mental issues when we can't do them as much as we see online

I would say yes because they dont always mean to hurt others while they do their stuff or advertise, im sure they have good intentions. But on the other hand they kinda know what they are doing is wrong. So I leave this at 50/50

I think it is very unfair to say that social media influencers negatively impact their follower’s mental health because you don’t know the social media influencers’ intentions and I think it is about choice if you allow yourself to be influenced. Yes, the power of suggestion is strong but just because it is strong doesn’t mean you have to give in to it, so I would not say that they would cause negative effects on one’s mental health unless someone allows them to. I do see the side where there is a negative effect on some people’s mental health especially in children and teenagers who are searching for answers and observing others and listening to what others have to say. So I do realize that there is a negative effect but I wouldn’t say that it is fair to say that because not all influencers have negative effects.
