The Cambodian currency is called Reil. If you use US dollar in Cambodia in some places they will take it. One Cambodian Riel is equivalent to 0.00025 american dollars. One US dollar is equivalent to 4071.83 Cambodian Riel. A carton of eggs in Cambodia costs 8,812 Reil and that is 2.16 US dollars. The Items from Riel to US is similar to the cost of that item in the US. The cost of sport shoes (ex.Nike, Adidas) is 188,420 Reil and 29.08 US dollars. Reil sounds like more than it actually is. If you hear 5000 Riel, it sounds like a lot but it is actually is a little bit over a dollar.

If you said to an american that their income had to be 1093.46 they would not believe it. Most people in america are very fortunate while people in Cambodia struggle to get what they actually need. The average US income is $81,400. In comparison to Cambodia, the US spends a lot more.Cambodia is a relatively poor country so they don’t spend a lot on stuff they don’t need.
