This organization works to make the veterans be welcomed home and letting them know that everyone is there for them. They have many courses for dealing with PTSD. Courses to help you to connect with your family. financial aid while they look for work, or go back to school for a profession. They make sure that veterans have complete access to the care and resources that they need. The organization sets up the veterans, so they can have a chance to adjust comfortably into their new life.

Dr. Marv Westwood, David Kuhl, and Tim Black are the founders of Veteran Transition Network. Dr. Marv was the original founder of the organization.

All the funds are raised by supporters. The biggest supporters are: Boeing, Brenda and Ken Stewart, DCSWVA, The Royal Canadian Legion, The Winnipeg foundation, and True Patriot Love.

83 cents from every dollar raised goes towards the program. The VTN was started after Dr. Marv Westwood met his wife’s Uncle Jack at a family function. Jack, a veteran of World War II, struggled with alcoholism and judgement from family for years. The two men sat down and struck up a conversation about Jack’s experience during the war. It was then that the veteran, for the first time in his life, revealed that he had killed a man with his bare hands during the war. It had haunted him ever since, and finally being able to open up relieved Jack of the heavy burden he had been carrying his entire life. That moment inspired Dr. Westwood to create opportunities for other veterans to share their stories, and experience the same relief that Jack had felt.

If you want to get involved.
