They then began to attack Russia, breaking their non-aggression pact, that was signed in late August, 1939. Hitler commanded 3 fronts to invade Russia. This was called operation Barbarossa. The first one goes north (Northern Front), second east (Eastern Front), and third south (Southern Front). This took place in late June 1941. Up to a million soviet soldiers were rounded up, captured, and killed by the Germans, by using blitzkrieg. The eastern front is aimed towards Moscow which I put the pin on.
