The Battle of Antietam, in 1862, was bloodiest day in the Civil War. During July 1-3, 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg was fought between the two armys. It is know as the turning point in the war. Also the Emancipation Proclamation, which Abraham Lincoln wrote, freeing all slaves. The Civil War ended when Genral Robert E Lee surrendered to Genral Ulyssles S Grant. The story starts in a field when Curtis, or Say, is injured in a field. Then Pinkus, or Pink, comes and rescue him. Pink brings Say to a house where his Mother lives. That is where the setting is for most of the book. The Setting feels like hope and sad. I think this because the book was mostly dark and gloomy for bad.
