It killed millions of people (about one third of the of the current population) and led the average lifespan to be around ten times shorter. The flu went from being in Europe, to the United States and Asia before it spread all over the world. Most of the victims of the flu were all young and healthy adults. The people did not have the medical advances that we have today so there was no effective drugs or vaccines could have treated the flu or even prevent it from spreading. Picasso drew this to show the innocent lives suffering during the the bombing practice on Guernica by the Nazi's.  On May 11, 1937, Picasso had heard the terrible news that the Nazi's had done to the town and less than a month he had the painting Guernica created. Towars the left you see a lady mourning over her dead child and that's ehat happened the day they were bombed. More than a third of the city had died due to the 100.000 pounds of explosives dropped on them by twenty five bombers in a time spand of three hours.
