I was never bothered into reading or watching a movie of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet since romance genre isn't exactly my cup of tea. At that time, I only knew of Romeo and Juliet by its name and its creator. However, that all changed until we've discussed and learned it. I can't help but appreciate his work now, and to think that this play was made in medieval times, it still is a famous work of literature up to this day. I didn't know that the story would end in a tragedy, but I adore this work's ending because of its interesting plot and conflict, the depressing end of the two star-crossed lovers, and the reconciliation of the two rival families.
- Tolentino, Jillian Dominique C.

I heard this story a lot growing up and I was never really interested on knowing the whole masterpiece of Shakespeare. So when this day came, I was like "hmm, I don't think I will enjoy this as much". But guess what, here I am loving the masterpiece written by William Shakespeare. Every act has its importance to the whole story, but the act that I liked the most has to be the act I presented with my group which is Act IV. I was all nervous about doing the musical radio drama because I didn't know how to add musical parts. But later on, I enjoyed practicing with my group because of the character I portrayed which is Friar Lawrence. This has to be the best activity I have done on my junior year in MIS. Thank you Doc Monica!!

Ever since 6, I wanted to express and gather my thoughts. Charisma, delivery, and articulation were like a game. I come up with stories in my head, I come up with fancy quotes to describe my views and feelings. When I saw Shakespeare’s writing, I was impressed. He combined words like a chemist combines chemicals. He used slang made up from certain words, some words were based on context. He was very clever and he didn’t just use words, he invented them. His genius has helped me to better understand how to write in an original and clever way.

Although I would've personally complained about needing to do this at a young age, I've learned to appreciate it because I've also heard of so much more students who do not know how to write research papers properly.

I'm extremely thankful to have learned about it, and grateful that the teaching was clear and concise.

I don't know what's ahead of my future yet, and what I'll be, or the things I have in mind to do, but even then, I still have an imaginative mind of a child who loves fiction, and I think it may take time for me to set foot into such a world we're in. Education is proven to be useful; and knowing the procedures to properly lay out a good set of information is something I didn't imagine I'd be interested in learning about (despite being still quite unexperienced at it).

That is all, thank you!

It depicts the world of writing and how alike and unlike people are. It provides us a glimpse of both the past and the present. It teaches us and may be highly enjoyable. I've learnt that the world's first literature was oral, passed down from one person to the next and from generation to generation. People began to employ writing to preserve their writings as civilizations advanced. This had the added benefit of giving words a more solid and long-lasting shape. However, it frequently isolated the works from the actions to which they were tied, making it difficult for us to completely comprehend their significance. Myths, heroic literature, sacred verse, wisdom literature, and folk tales are all genres of literature. This includes modern literature as well. It is derived from several civilizations and spans time. It is suitable for anybody and everybody.
-Charlene Taeza

I have learned so many significant things throughout the whole year, and honestly, I can't even pick which ones I like best amongst many of the great lessons I've learned. All thanks to Ms. Vher and, of course, you, Doc Monica!

I would say, however, that learning how to write a proper research paper has greatly helped me, and I believe it is an important skill to learn not only as a student, but as someone who uses writing to comfort and express themselves in general.

Throughout the whole writing process of this paper, I was having a hard time because I was just not in the right headspace to be writing a paper in the first place, so it was kind of hard to be creative and write something that made sense, but with the help of my amazing partner, Alessandra, I was able to work it out, and of course, to Ms. Vher for helping us with the structure of our paper and Doc Monica for giving us very encouraging feedback, which kept us going. For me, writing helps with imagination in a few ways. It makes planning easier, allows me or others to see situations and potential outcomes, and serves as the foundation for innovation and everything else.

Another important thing I discovered is how great Shakespeare's works are! I know everyone knows who Shakespeare is, especially because of Romeo and Juliet, but I never bothered reading his works or knowing who he really is, and that he's not just some playwright, as I always assumed. It was unwise of me to think so, but I never became interested in any of his works because I knew there were far greater writers out there who I thought deserved just as much recognition, but that is no longer the case; I've learned to love his works, particularly Romeo and Juliet, which is carefully constructed to provide the audience or reader with dramatic tension, primarily through foreshadowing and creating a climactic sensation. Shakespeare did an excellent job of creating suspense and a deeper understanding of the plot as a whole by making symbolic references, displaying the characters' sentiments, and using the perfect tone.

Dominique Larraine Racoma

Writing a Research Proposal: An Arduous but Fulfilling Undertaking

Knowing how to write a research proposal is a monumental thing I have learned. I’ve always found writing a formal piece to be a daunting task, but I usually am able to overcome it after a few hours of concentration. However, I knew that creating a research proposal was out of my league because something of this caliber is a thing I have never done in the past. Fortunately, our second quarter introduced new lessons that considerably made the construction of our research proposal a lot easier.

I believe the reason why I loved learning how to write a research proposal is because aside from it being a form of preparation for college, I learned a lot of things from this. I realized how important paying attention to detail, no matter how small, is. Having perseverance was another thing that I learned because writing something this intricate can’t be done in one sitting; it takes hundreds of hours spread out across months of reading academic material, writing the paper, proofreading what we’ve written, and communicating with my partner.

Despite the challenges Redd and I went through, I found it to be a great endeavor. When we finished the proposal, it felt extremely rewarding seeing the work we’ve achieved together. Writing Chapters 1, 2, and 3 is a unique learning experience, and is the most significant thing I have learned not just in English, but in all subjects this school year. No words can fully express my sincere gratitude to Ms. Vher and you, Doc Monica, for moving mountains just to help us complete this journey. Without your never-ending support, accomplishing what we’ve done would have been nigh impossible.

- Caceres, Vinzel A.

When the school year just started, I was a completely different person. Having to read or write essays annoyed me, for being greeted by the sight of waves of words was utterly enervating. Back then, I didn't know how to appreciate a piece of writing, because what came into my mind was nothing like fascination and exhilaration, but rather great exasperation although the text was meaningful. This remained the same...until I wrote my research proposal. It was October 1, 2021, and my dear friend Larraine Racoma (but I call her Ate Raine) asked me to be her research partner, to which I happily agreed. At first I figured that the research Chapter 1 was simply just a three-week-long project that would end in a snap. Unexpectedly though, it turned out to be a three-quarter-long assignment instead. At first it was hard for me to write and do research since at the time I barely read any books or surfed the Internet for anything educationally beneficial. As I began writing my draft however, I started getting used to the tedious hours of just listening to the monotonous typing sounds coming from my keyboard. After this phase passed, I discovered my love for writing, which I found both good and bad. The good part was that I started reading more books and expanding my vocabulary to write impressive and read-worthy pieces. The bad part, on the other hand, was that I started spending long hours just typing and deleting things. I refused to show anyone my writing unless I was proud of it myself. This habit of mine was caused by my newly-found practice of overthinking and being a perfectionist. Due to this, I constantly found myself in my bedroom letting terrible cramps build up on my back, as I sat for hours just staring down at my laptop and typing. Everyday it was just type, delete, type, delete, to the point I found myself crying in great frustration over my work sometimes. I can't say I've completely gotten past that phase, but I am certain that this routine of mine isn't as severe as it was before. I will always appreciate all the work that I've done, forever remain grateful for my amazing partner, Ate Raine, who I will miss to bits when I leave MIS, and I will never, ever, forget all my MIS teachers whose efforts steered me towards the right path. I came into this school as a girl who couldn't care less about her studies, was always buried in video games, and never thought of her future. However, I'm now proud to say that I'll be able to walk out of MIS as a new and improved version of myself. Sometimes I wonder how everything changed after I wrote a single essay, but most importantly, I wonder if I'll ever get to meet teachers as amazing and life-changing as the two of you. Thank you so much for everything, Ms. Vher and Doc Monica! I will forever be thankful for all your support.

- Silapan, Alessandra Corine T.

I learned to be understanding with my group mates and classmates since not everybody has it easy. Many of us are still having a hard time adjusting and learning the new ways or students having technical difficulties and I realized that communicating and understanding them is what we need to survive school and that we also need these traits for college and work. I also realized to relax sometimes and go easy on yourself when things get hard because you need it to be able work and function properly. Thank you ms.

Out of the 7 years I have been studying here, I feel that I have learned two of the most valuable things to me this year. Those are self-love and self-confidence, which, to me, are two very different things that work hand-in-hand with each other. At times when I was struggling, be it with schoolwork or with personal problems, more often than not, I chose to face them alone. Mostly because of the feeling that it would burden the ones I care about, but also because I felt I needed to learn to manage these things myself. By working through my issues, I slowly learned to love myself more. I learned to stop doubting myself and be truly honest with myself, so that, in turn, I can be honest with everybody. Self-confidence, however, felt much different. Now that I had learned self-love, self-confidence came much easier. I was aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I was aware of how I felt. To truly feel it and appreciate it was a very liberating experience. For once, I felt unburdened by my feelings and I myself didn't feel like a burden to others. It felt as if I had been playing a role before, and only then was I being myself. Now that the year is ending, I know myself enough to understand how I feel and put it into words. With all that in mind, I can confidently say that all that I am and all that I wish to be is loving and honest, not only to everybody else, but to myself. - Encabo, Alejandro A.

I mean, the topic did stick around for the remainder of the year and it was all we were learning for the past few quarters. It was very significant to me since me and my partner spent days and nights trying to understand how to write parts of every single chapter along with pestering some of our classmates for help. Confusion was what I mostly felt, along with worry as I had no clue if what I was doing was correct. However, with the year ending, it's very relieving knowing that all our hard work finally paid off.

-Balbuena, Rio Rafaelle C.

This is a lesson that I will remember fondly from this school year, as it was a very unique challenge. Since the paper was something that was worked on for three quarters out of the four this Academic year, it is safe to say that it was a topic full of anticipation and challenge.

The topic taught me how to work with a single partner, and how having a second person by your side, with a common goal, was very beneficial for both of us. We would write the research proposal, suggest ideas with each other, and figure each part out together. It was a nice feeling knowing that someone else was working on the same project as me. And despite the amount of group projects given to us throughout the year, this one was special as we both needed to stick together and help each other out on a goal that would take a long while to finish.

The overall task also just felt unique, as this is one time where I felt like I was using what I learned for something great. I learned the value of citing sources and how you can get called out for copying other peoples' work. I also learned to be patient as one of the tasks involved reading all of the sources we collected for the second chapter. I also learned just how impactful every decision can be, like what research design will be used, and if the amount of questions is enough for our study. These are very valuable lessons, and I know that this will not only be useful for the research proposal we wrote for this year, but will also be valuable in whatever challenges will come in the future.

I am very thankful for the students and the teachers for the things that I learned from this topic. Ms. Vher and Doc Monica have done a great job at teaching us how to write a well put together research proposal. And for that, I would simply say, thank you, thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn about this topic, as I and many others took away a lot from it. If it weren't for that, we all wouldn't be here.

- De Guzman, Charles Edrian P.

The most important thing that I learned are the life skills that are needed in the real world. First is the ability to develop my communication skills, then the capacity to socialize and do critical thinking. Socializing is a basic thing ever that a student needs to learn specially in todays time. Critical thinking is another thing, it is what gets you through life. Learning to make tough decisions and work around situations. As we do class presentations or group activities/projects where we learn to bounce of each other’s ideas and socialize with one another to get bigger pictures. All subject classes have somehow helped me learn the skills. It taught us how to decide & expressed for ourselves and to connect on real-life scenarios that would prepare us for our future.

I am so glad to have met you ALL !
- Kyle Lewis Co

I never expected myself to like it but after reading it, I realized it has an even deeper message. Letting your emotions control you will get you hurt or someone else hurt, and upholding ancient traditions/partitions, with no regard for the other side is just very wrong.

-Rafael Andrei S. Research papers will be much more tough, which is why I am grateful for the opportunity to understand the fundamentals of writing a research paper so that I won't have any problems in the future. I've also noticed that I've become more social; yet, I'm having a hard time talking to people right now since it's just too terrifying, y'know? I'm not sure why, but it is; in any case, I'm grateful to all of the MIS Teachers for teaching me the fundamentals of life:)))
- Santito, James Vincent M.

The most significant thing I learned throughout this year is cooperation, responsibility, and diligence. I learned to cooperate when me and my once partner wrote our chapter 1 research. I learnt responsibility when my partner left me for not helping in drafting chapter 2. I learned to be diligent when I received an email from the school about my missed activities, I had 42 missed activities and I'm working on them. I realized that cooperation played a huge part on everything, even the research papers. Without a research partner, things went downhill; I struggled. Without someone to cooperate to, my work is two times harder.
-Andres, Brent Steven C.

From my time in this school year I learned most about writing a research paper and it's parts. This is a very important lesson and I'm glad I was able to learn it even though we are in online classes, this lesson helps for the future of my life through college and when I eventually get my job. Learning how to write it with my research partner and getting good critique for what is needed to change really helped me understand what is properly needed and what we need to do to make a proper research paper and how we need to address our topic. I am glad that I got to learn this and even be able to do it cause it really helped raise my confidence, my writing skills, and how to properly cite and paraphrase for the future of my life. Being in my mock defense really helped me see the difficulties and the realization of how this will happen for my final defense in this school year. Staying up at nights while working on my paper was fun and challenging and I am glad to have done it.

- Gonzalez, Rafael Sebastian C.

The most significant thing I've learned throughout this year is discipline and time management. I am very guilty of procrastinating a lot, I would write on my list "have this done by 4pm" but I would only start around 9. This year has been filled with ups and downs, mostly times where I'm just confused and stuck. But at the end of the day you just have to have that discipline to continue. It is very tempting to just sleep all day since my bed is just behind me. But I used that temptation to better myself. I have learned a lot of things that I think I wouldn't have learned under normal circumstances, and I am proud that I am growing as a person. I had a lot of fun this year, although I would much prefer going back to face to face just like old times, since we only had 1 year of face to face. As fun as this school year had been, it has also been very challenging I am glad that I have learned the things that I have, and I know it's only gonna get a lot harder. I am NOT looking forward to those upcoming challenges, but it is what it is.

- Baquero, Adrian Judaeio C.

During the school year 2021- 2022 the most significant thing that I learned in this subject are the first three chapters of research and cooperation. Firstly, I think that this school year my cooperation was strengthened given that I am not used to working with some of my groupmates.Writing the research proposal was not easy for me and my partner. Majority of times I was not able to fully grasp on these topics, yet my research partner and my classmates were there every time to help us. There were a lot of challenges that we encountered, numerous sleepless nights since we do not know how to start, I also experienced procrastination and cramming as well. On the brighter side of our journey, me and my partner Summer were able to write our first three chapters and we are also looking forward to presenting it to the panelists and hoping that they would love it and we are also aiming to defend it properly.

At first, I thought that I am not capable of these things such as writing a research paper since I know that I am not great at constructing essays and I don’t have a wide vocabulary, plus personally I am not a bookworm. Furthermore, there was a time (which I think is funny) that I felt pressured when I saw Ms Vher and Doc Monica during zoom classes because when I see them what I think and remember is research. But, I admire them because they taught us very well given just one hour per week, and I am thankful for how they helped and gave suggestions to make our research better.

Regardless of the hindrances and numerous revisions, I am happy that we partially survived our research and the school year. I felt immensely satisfying to see the work we'd done together after we finalized the proposal. Composing Chapters 1, 2, and 3 was a remarkable learning experience for me, and it is the significant lesson that I have learned this school year as I know this would help me and this is a stepping stone for us which we could use until we graduate. Big thanks to Ms Vher and Doc Monica for helping us to get through this school year, and for making every effort to assist us in accomplishing this journey of ours. Without you we would not have been able to do what we have done as well as this tiring but enjoyable experience.

- Vichuaco, Rhiann Ysabel S.
