The conversion of Saul of Tarsus occurred when he was in his early thirties on the road to Damascus. On his road to Damascus, Saul was struck by a light which came from the resurrected Christ from heaven. This conversion happened to make Paul become a follower of Jesus. When he was struck by the light, he fell to the ground and heard a voice say too him " Saul, Saul why do you persecute me". The men who were travelling with Saul were speechless. They couldn't see anyone but they could only hear a voice. When saul got up he couldn't see anything so they led him by hand to Damascus. Saul couldn't see, eat or drink for three days. Saul changed his name to paul because he wanted to leave his old life and beliefs behind him to start a new beginning.

On Pauls first missionary journey Barnabans had been pauls main companion. On this secondary journey he chose Silas for that role. Paul and Barnabans was planning to go together yet they disgareed to take John and Mark along with them. John had quit going on the first journey early. To solve this matter, Barnabans took Mark and John with him and they sailed to Cyrpus while Paul took Salis and the started north over land. First Paul and Salis leave Syrian Antoich. They travel into Syria and Cicila. They worked in Debre and Lyrsta. Then they pass through regions of Galtia because the Holy Sporit would not allow them to go through Asia. In Phillipi they convert Lydia. They then end up curing a slave girl from her evil spirits and are thrown into jail. He then took a ship to Ceaserae while he is there he visits the church then he go back to Syrian Antionch where this journey had began.

Post 4: Main purpose of St Pauls letters

All these letters are little snapshots of the life and belief of the first Christians. The letters represent the first attempts of communicating their beliefs in written form decades before Gospels were written. The letter that Paul wrote to the Galatian communities had a very unique and different focus compared to the others. Pauls essential message to get across was In Jesus Christ God had acted to provide salvation for all who believe (Rom 1: 1-7). This salvation, whose complete realizations lay in the future, has its beginnings in the present. People can experience this salvation in their own lives (Rom 8:14-17).

Paul came across many different challenges on his journeys such as the people of the places he visited did not understand what he was saying because he wasn't speaking there language. He only knew how to speak Hebrew, Hebrew was his main language so the people who knew different languages other than Hebrew would not understand what he was talking about. Paul was even bought up as a Jew so which he hated Christians and his conversion to Christianity was very hard to believe by his preachers.

I chose the message "Our past doesn't define us". Paul had a dark past but he did not let that define who he was as a person. He learnt from his mistakes and what he did in his past to then change into a amazing man of God. Philippans 3:13, Paul wrote "Forgetting what is behind us and straining toward what is ahead" I think that I relate to this message and can take things away from it because i've done some things that weren't good, i've made bad choices. But I have been working on my life and the choices that I make because I wanna flip things around and show the people around me the best person I can be which means I will have to fix the decisions I make, fix my attitude towards things and start thinking positive in what I think and do. Even though there is people out there in the world today who chose the wrong decision and do the wrong things, they don't always have to be put under the name of a "bad person" or a "bad influence" because they could be trying to be the best person that they could be but something could be stopping them.
