When does the SSF open for applications? 

The 2024/25 Fund is open for applications from Monday 30 September 2024 for continuing postgraduate students. For all other undergraduates and new postgraduate students, the Fund opens Monday 28 October 2024.

When does the SSF close for applications? 

For postgraduate students and international applicants, the Fund will remain open until the end of August 2025.

The Department of Modern Languages is running ‘Reading for Researchers’ modules in Arabic for 26/27. This is a non-credit-bearing module, free to undertake and delivered online for PGR and PGT students (including Distance students).     

The course is delivered online via Zoom, Monday, 5-7pm, Semesters 1 and 2.  The first class is 28^th September 2026.

Abstract submissions are invited for the edited volume Vegetal Hauntings: Plant Horror and the Postcolonial Ecogothic.

The volume may be of particular interest to researchers working in literary studies, ecocriticism, postcolonial studies, environmental humanities, horror studies, plant studies, ecofeminism, folklore, and film studies.

Contributions will explore intersections between critical plant studies, ecogothic theory, postcolonial ecology, ecofeminism, folklore, literature, and cinema, with particular attention to South Asian and postcolonial contexts.
