For the next 27 days, Pi's only goal is to survive the shipwreck and hopefully reach the shore safely. The story challenges the common stereotype of tiger = bad by putting Pi in the same boat as the very hungry tiger. The readers are left to wonder if and when the tiger will finally snap and give in to his nature.

The tale is told in retrospect by Pi. Yann Martel interrupts the story once in a while with his commentary and observations. Through this adventure, the cultural background of Pi’s world and the lonely struggle of taming the savagery of nature are portrayed. The themes presented include survival, man vs. nature, and courage. As Pi tries to survive the shipwreck.

A truly notable dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood a Canadian author, published in 1985. As they say, an oldie but a goldie, this book is set in New England in the near future. It is told from the main character Offred's perspective, she alternates between texts in describing her daily life and past in a "fundamentalist theocratic regime".

In Offred’s memories, it is revealed that she was the daughter of a feminist activist who had decided to be a single mother. Before the surfacing of the theocratic government, the book's protagonist attended university and met a girl named Moira who would later on become a close friend.

The Stone Angel is a 1964 novel by Margaret Laurence, a Canadian writer. It is one of a series of books by Margaret set in the fictional town of Manawaka, Manitoba, a rural area of Canada. Manawaka is an old-fashioned setting that clings to traditional social rules.

What makes this book stand out is the two plot lines are set side by side. One side is set in the early 1960s when the main character, Hagar Currie Shipley, is 90 years old and fighting against being placed in a nursing home. The other side is set in Hagar's earlier life. The memories and events are narrated in the first person by Hagar, with stream-of-consciousness utilized at times. Her diminishing brain abilities are represented as the story goes on.

And-being Laurence-we are given vivid portraits in time, character and place that have made The Stone Angel an unforgettable novel.”

I can really imagine myself in the situations this novel puts the protagonist in. I find myself agreeing with her reactions and opinions in most of the situations she's put in. Teenagers are really complicated!
