He leaves his community to go on adventure performing deeds because he leaves to get away from the cops and goes on a sort of "adventure" to hide in a old abandoned church since he got involved with a murder before going back home.

Especially Two-bit and he always seems to be joking around twenty-four-seven. Also they said in the book that "...he always had to get his two-bits worth in. Hence his name." (p.12) and "...he couldn't stop making funny remarks to save his life." (p.12)

He is also the know it all because he seems to think he is better and much more mature than everybody else.

When we took the personality test it said that Dally was observant and didn't care about his feelings as much as reality. This plays a role in how he commits suicide when Johnny dies. It also said that his role was explorer and his strategy was social engagement. This ties in to how the book "Dally had spent three years on the wild side on New York and had been arrested at the age of ten." (p.13) Also it said that he had lots of association with the gangs there.

Dally lived on the "Wild Side" of New York for 3 years, and he got into a lot of fights while he was there. He got arrested for the first time when he was only ten. "No rival gang. Only Socs. And you can't win against them no matter how hard you try, because they've got all the breaks and even whipping them isn't going to change the fact. Maybe that's why Dallas was so bitter"
(p. 13) I think that motivated him to commit crimes and act angry all the time which is why he got sent to jail so much. This might also be why he likes to blow off steam in fights instead of trying to beat something that apparently can't be beaten.

But everyone respects him because he's smart. Dally also likes to blow off steam in fights even though he had no specific thing to hate.
- Dally tries to keeps the people he cares about safe because he helped Johnny and Ponyboy get away from the fuzz "cops". He also ended up killing himself when Johnny died. "...he turned and jerked a black object from his waistband. I remembered his voice: I been carryin' a heater. It ain't loaded..." " Dally raised the gun, and I thought you blasted fool. They don't know you're bluffing." "He was jerked half around by the impact of the bullets, then slowly crumpled with a look of grim triumph on his face." all page (p.134)

"One night I saw Dally gettin' picked up by the fuzz, and he kept real cool and calm the whole time." (p. 68)
- Dally also gets falsely blamed for things which is his other biggest flaw. "They was gettin' him for breakin' out the windows in the school building, and it was Two-Bit who did that." (p. 68) Also later in the story when Dally comes to find Johnny and Ponyboy he says how the police took him in to question him about the murder and about how he gets blamed for things all the time.

If the story were set somewhere else then the abandoned church wouldn't have been there for them to hide in and there wouldn't have been that scene where they ran in to save the children when the church burned down. "We pushed open a door and found four or five little kids, about eight years old or younger, huddled in a corner." (p. 82)
