The Manson family were controlled by drugs and brainwashing to not question Charles Manson, which feels like what Bernard is pushing up against.

The director of this program states that it produces cloned monkeys that have the same genetic background, except for the one gene you manipulate to get the clone. Before this point, making clones of primates with this method did not work, but now researchers have overcame the challenge because they took nuclei from fetal differentiated cells. This can be connected to Brave New World at the beginning, pages 17-20. The Director in this novel is showing new students the lab, and brings them to the place where Bokanovsky's Process takes place. "One egg, one embryo, one adult- normality. But a bokanovskified egg will bud, will proliferate, will divide... and every bud will grow into a full-sized adult" (pg 17).
