Many school zones aren't "marked" and you're just "supposed to know" what the speed limit is. 30 and 50 are not hard and fast rules. As well, it makes a difference if you see children near a school area, even in the after hours/summer ("on or near the shoulder").

Pedestrian Right of Way

If you're about to step off the curb... it's likely Nova Scotians will stop for you wherever you are. You also have clear right of way when drivers are coming out of parking lots... they HAVE to stop for YOU as a pedestrian!

Restaurants Close Earlier and Many Shops Close on Sundays/Mondays

Since Covid, it's increasingly challenging to get workers and many restaurants close by 8/9pm even on weekends (and including some fast food joints!) In addition, "Sunday" is still widely considered "the day of rest" and many places (including many NSLC outlets) are closed Sundays. Many shops are traditionally closed on Mondays as well.
