How did Malka escape her camp with Edek?

Malka Zimetbaum was placed in a women’s camp after undergoing the normal humiliations for new people in Auschwitz birkenau. Malka Zimetbaum was tattooed on her forearm with the number 19880. The escape of Malka Zimetbaum and Edek Galinski (her partner in the escape) took place Saturday the 24th in June 1944. Edek managed to get a SS guard uniform, Malka dressed as a male prisoner carrying a heavy lavatory pan as a weapon. They escaped the camp through a side in the fence, But when they left people recalled the escapees leaving the camp under the SS guard and a male prisoner leaving the camp, after the investigation started they we being hunted by the camp guards.

On July 6, 1944 the Bielitz Gestapo had hunted them down and returned them to Auschiwiz the next day. Malka was officially the first woman escapee, but for escaping the camp is punishable by death, Malka and Edek were publicly hanged. This action made many prisoners in the camp excited, making them have hope and faith in leaving the camp.
