During the anticipatory set of the lesson, students will complete this KWL chart to reflect on their knowledge of animal and plant systems and how these systems help them survive. This is the final activity of the unit on human machines where they will create their own plant or animal system. This KWL chart allows students to have an understanding of what they already know about these systems based on the previous lessons in the unti, what they still want to know about these systems, and want they learned about these systems through the activity of creating their own model.

Who - Science: Fourth Grade ICT Class

What - Students will use padlet to complete a KWL Chart on animal and plant systems based on the previous lessons taught throughout the unit.

Where - in the classroom

When - During a 40 minute lesson

Why - Students will be able to utilize their knowledge on animal and plant systems to complete the "K" section of the KWL chart. Then, students be given the opportunity to write in the "W" section of the chart questions that they may still have after completing the past few lessons from previous sessions on different parts of animal and plant systems. Their hope is to be able to answer these questions after completing the activity of the model of an animal or plant system to fill out the "L" section of the KWL chart. Students will also be given the opportunity to read each other's ideas in the KWL chart and star and comment on some questions that their classmates may have under the "W" section of the chart. This will allow the teacher to see what are some common themes in what students are continuing to wonder about after the completion of the activity. This is a great opportunity for students to continue researching animal and plant systems during a WIN period. This can open the floor for creating their very own research project.
