They gave them rights, but they were not equal to the colored people. they were treated cruelly and unfairly, limiting and restricting them from their freedom. So they were still separating whites from the colored. So the rights were guaranteed to whites only.

Jims Craw laws contradict the values of liberty for all, violating the Constitution. They denied basic rights to people of color, restricting their freedom of movement, voting, education, and work. Segregation undermined equality and perpetuated discrimination.
