Community Service Learning entails understanding the different problems that affect your community. When you learn about the community, you can start to implement methods to create a change. To me, this pillar means looking for different things that are negatively impacting your community and seeing what you can do about it. When you care about the betterment of your community, that attitude can spread and bring more people to join your project. I chose this artifact because it shows multiple people coming together to help create some sort of change anyway they can. I saw young people in the photo it just reiterated my point of how when one starts helping, others join as well.

Leadership is the act of directing a group of people. The are many forms of leadership, and it can range from being the leader of your high school to being the leader of your country. In most cases when someone becomes a leader, they are seen the best person fit to take on that position. To me, a leader is someone who is strong and has the courage to take on any challenge for the sake of the people they are leading. They have a vision they would like to execute it in the best way possible. I chose this picture of Martin Luther King because he was a true leader to all people. People came to him with their problems and he lead them the best way he could.

Community Building in a Diverse Society is a way of creating structure in a community with all types of people. There are different forms and methods of bringing people together to create one whole community. Community building is especially important in a diverse community to me because I feel as if the different groups of people to need to connect and get to know one another. The unity of a community is an upside of even considering where to live because of the great connection they share. I chose this photo because it includes all sorts of ethnic groups banding together. The picture had so much color and showed how bright things could be when people of other backgrounds come together.

Scholarship is the amount of knowledge one has gained due to studying. It can also entail how much a scholar has achieved. For a more in-depth understanding of scholarship I think it deals with a level of understanding what a certain topic is and then educating yourself on it. I chose this photo because it shows a Hebrew scholar. He is a reading a book trying to expand his knowledge on a certain subject. The more he studies and educates himself the more familiar he will be with this topic.

Citizenship deals with being a member of a particular community. Someone who is viewed as doing good acts in their community. When someone has good citizenship, they usually are a big part of their environment or community. They either go out their way to help their community because they feel as if it is their civic duty. I chose this photo because it completely outlines what was explained earlier. A person who possesses great citizenship lives a good, clean life and will go out their way to help the community in which they live in.
