These two have a rather unique backstory.

Runningstar is a gray palette calico she with stormy gray eyes, and Echostar is a black she with yellow and orange spots.

They were born in the fanclan CaveClan, to Hollywhisper and Bramblethorn. When they were born, Bramblethorn says "The gray calico is Runningkit," He then picks up the other kit.
Runningkit squeaks "Echokit!" despite her newborn state, and Hollywhisper says, "Yes, they are named Echokit, you smart cat!"
Bramblethorn who is still holding Echokit, says, "I can't associate myself with kits. Goodbye, Hollywhisper." And runs off with Echokit.

Cutting through the fanclan StreamClan, his neck is getting tired so he drops Echokit and sprints off to the rogue forest.

At this point you might be crying, and I get that. This is a sad part. It gets better tho.



In the meantime Hollywhisper worries about Echokit.

A StreamClan cat, Nightcloud, finds Echokit and takes her in.




Okay, fast forward a few moons.
It's Runningkit and Echokit's first Gathering, and they're Runningpaw and Echopaw. They become friends immediately, ans start meeting each other every night. When they become warriors, claiming the names Runningcloud and Echosong, they agree it's for the best that they stop seeing each other. 

When they become leaders of their Clan, as tradition they go to visit the other Clan's camp. Runningstar takes them to see Hollywhisper, who at this point is an elder. Runningstar introduces Echostar who's getting a sense of deja vu. Then Hollywhisper starts convulsing like she's having kits. She gives birth to one kit, and says her dramatic last words-"You two are sisters." They argue for a moment over who's Clan should adopt the kit but then Mistyshade, another elder, points out they should bring the kit to a queen so the kit doesn't die. 

They bring the kit to Petalrose who has two kits named Icekit and Sunkit and she adopts the kit. She names the kit, who is intersex and a black tabby, Shadekit and raises them with love.  When Shadekit becomes older they choose she/her pronouns and is shown to have Lionblaze powers.

Runningstar and Echostar then have a crisis over a sickness in StreamClan, when Runningstar offers a helpful paw and sends herbs to treat the symptoms.

They then unify together to defeat the rebel rogues who are not surprisingly lead by Bramblethorn's kit Crimson, a red tabby. They then take Crimson into custody under a tree on the border and their warriors take shifts guarding her.
