It started June 24th, 1948-1949. The soviet union had blockaded the allied controlled area of all supply of water and food, as well as anyway in or out of Berlin on ground. How the allied forces responded was by sending planes to Berlin to bring in supplies to keep everyone in the area alive. The allied forces brung in enough supply to keep more than 2 million people alive for 10 months. Proving that they could keep up the airlift going as long as they needed. The Soviets gave in and lifted the blockade on May 11th, 1949. All though the airlift kept up until the 30th of May. They successfully delivered 13,000 tons of supply including 600 cargo trains of coal everyday to keep sustain everyone.

“The space race” was a race between the Russians and Americans to see who would make it to the moon first, it started on August 2nd, 1955. The USSR responds to The united states saying they were launching an artificial satellite by launching their own two years late called "Sputnik" and another one a month late which took a dog with it, making the USSR the first to achieve life in space and with the U.S. being past by the russians, it further pushed them to compete with each other and the U.S. ended up winning by making it to the moon first on July 20th, 1969.

The Americans thought the domino theory and increased they troops in north Vietnam. After claiming that the north had attacked a few navy ships the U.S. and the north would fully engage into warfare attempting to contain communism. American citizens did not support the war though and President Johnson received backlash because of the media portraying that the Americans were losing, which the government responded to this by saying we are winning. But during the tet offense was a turning point for the north causing the south to ask for more American troops which Johnson replied “No” and America made a full withdraw in 1973 with the signing of the Paris peace accord due to the risk and how many people they already lost it was not worth it. With no American troops in south Vietnam the north launched a full-scale invasion which would end on 30 1975.

In the soviet union it was an act permitted by Gorbachev that lasted 1986-1991, which allowed people freedom of speech, information, and religion and because of this people started speaking of the political and social problems beginning the democratization of the soviet union which changed how things worked in the soviet party. Ultimately the communist party lost it’s power and they started a multi candidate electoral voting system ending the dictatorship in the soviet union.
