In order to help students develop a growth mindset, I would have worksheet printed with "I am" and they can write brave, strong, kind, any one-word affirmation. Then, students would draw them being brave, strong, etc and color the picture.

Do you ever feel like you need to do something just because someone else says so even if it's something you don't want to do?
The voice the author is talking about is YOUR voice inside of you -- do what YOUR voice is telling you!
The page with the boy rock climbing -- show the kids how he has a prosthetic leg, but can still rock climb like everyone else, even though it's harder for him.
"I can ask for help" -- mention that it's ALWAYS okay to ask for help.
"I can speak up when it's easier to be quiet" -- when something happens at school, talk to an adult.
Hard things for you, may not be hard for someone else and that's okay! We always do our best and believe in ourselves and others!
Mention the quote: "Be you because someone else is already taken"
You can handle hard things on your own, but you also have support from your friends, family, teachers, etc.

"Mighty [fill in name]" activity:

Students will write their names next to the word "mighty" and draw a picture of them doing something they love/makes them feel special! Then, they will write what they're doing. For example, if one student draws them dancing, they'll write "I am dancing" at the bottom of the page.
