It is unusual that there are very little online discussions about Billie Joe's sexuality as being 'in-the-know' in terms of celebrities is, according to Martin Shingler, "a feature of the gay subcultures of Europe and America" (Shingler: 2012, p.145) especially when discussing the idea of homosexual celebrities.  This being said, both sources in which Armstrong had interviews with discussing personal aspects of his sexuality (Out and Advocate magazine) are sources that specifically talk about LGBT subjects and lifestyles.
