There are very little sources that speak about Billie Joe's bisexuality. It is unusual that there are very little online discussions about Billie Joe's sexuality as being 'in-the-know' in terms of celebrities is, according to Martin Shingler, "a feature of the gay subcultures of Europe and America" (Shingler: 2012, p.145) especially when discussing the idea of homosexual celebrities. This being said, both sources in which Armstrong had interviews with discussing personal aspects of his sexuality (Out and Advocate magazine) are sources that specifically talk about LGBT subjects and lifestyles.

The website mom.me is one that seems to be catered for the 'mother audience' by having sections on their site such as 'being pregnant' and 'baby names'. The site directly quotes Armstrong from a 1995 interview stating "I think I have always been bisexual...I think people are born bisexual" (mom.me, 2017). Being on a family-focussed this tells me that Armstrong's life appeals to the family demographic.

Billie Joe Armstrong is extremely overt when it comes to discussing his political views. In this consequence of sound article, it speaks about Armstrong's response to a Green Day fan who is a Donald Trump support using a quote from Armstrong stating "I have no problem telling ignorant f***s like you to go to hell" (Schatz, 2018). Being outspoken about his political views gives Armstrong a passionately left-wing star image.

This article uploaded by The Guardian talks about Armstrong's struggle with substance addiction. It was an addiction that "put the band's plans on hold" (Michaels, 2013). The article also references the infamous performance at iHeartRadio music festival in September 2012 which caused Armstrong to come foreword about his addiction. Having an addiction is quite a stereotypical aspect of a rockstar, this builds upon Armstrong's image as one.

The Guardian's article quotes Armstrong about his addiction. The online news outlet states the addiction "started with marijuana and hard partying" (Michaels, 2013). Armstrong then developed alcoholism which started with drinking before performing on stage. He states, "it started with two beers. Then it went to many more after that" (Michaels, 2013). Armstrong almost tries to disavow his rockstar image by looking back at his addiction in a negative light.

As Phillip Drake and Michael Higgins writes in their chapter within the book Framing Celebrity, "with the rise in influence and power of celebrities...the political sphere has become intertwined with celebrity and the value that celebrity endorsement can bring to political causes" (Drake & Higgins, 2006, p.88). Armstrong can also be compared to other celebrities that Drake and Higgins references when speaking about political endorsements, for example "the rock star Bono, band of U2... [told] the UK Labour Party conference that Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were the 'Lennon and McCartney' of politics" (Drake & Higgins, 2006, p.89).

Armstrong writes about politics within his songwriting, most prominently in Green Day's 2004 album American Idiot. Radio X writes about the album stating it "deals with themes of fear and xenophobia and accuses the mass media of using propaganda to stir up paranoia and hysteria" with lyrics such as "Don't wanna be an American idiot, Don't want a nation under the new media, And can you hear the sound of hysteria? The subliminal mind-f*** America" (Radio X, 2019). Armstrong writing about politics in his music self manages his left-wing star-image.
