I  would begin the lesson by having them up on the mat in front of the interactive whiteboard . I would have Jolly phonics open and would get the children to look at all the three letter words we can read and blend. next we would revise what a vowel is and name them (Angry Elephant In Orange Underpants)

Next I would explain to the children that when the letter e is at the end of the word, it makes the vowel sound like its name not sound. Next we would revise letter sounds and then letter names.

Using the large cvc words as shown in picture above, we would say the word without the e. so for example: m-a-n = man. Revising our rule, we would then say the word with the magic e making the vowel sound like its name giving us mane.

I would go through all the cvc words with the class without the magic e and with the magic e.

Next, in pairs, children will get their tablet where ABC reading magic 4 final e will be open.

 

The children will be presented with this screen. Here i will ask them to press shuffle.

They will be shown a blank screen with three boxes. when they press the each box they will hear letter sounds including the vowel sound with the letter e. they must make out what the word is. when they have guessed they press on large box to reveal image of the word.

This is what the children will see after their guesses.

 

Subject: Numeracy

Area: Money.

I would link teach this lesson through Aistear.

The children would be on role play with the theme of the shop.  They would be handling play money, counting money into the cash register and making price tags for each item in the shop.

 

In pairs, the children will play coin exchange on www.teachingmoney.co.uk/eurosite/eiroindex/html.

Here in pairs the children must find 2 coins that make the amount shown.

children must try and make 10 cent using different coins and draw the combinations on white pages

Above is the link to my learning path which is based on the theme of homes and the environment.

I couldn't believe how easy It was to create and the amount of resources available on the topic.

Homes is always a big theme used in school and the class always enjoy it because there is so much scope and variety.

In my learning path I have included Irish and English lessons on the three little pigs, a maths lesson based on shapes around the home, homes around the world and various sphe lessons on home safety and more.

I really feel that this is a brilliant resource that i will use and pass on to other teachers in the school.

I have really learned alot from this module, especially copyright. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have been guilty of copying and pasting from Google not even considering to check copyright. In future, I will be checking. Because I am teaching Senior Infants, copyright would fly over their little heads but I feel it is important for older classes to be aware of copyright and would really push to use photosforclass.com and pixaby.com.

With regards to Internet safety, I would incorporate it with SPHE stay safe programme. Have a little talk about it with the class and highlight its importance.Just as we try to stay safe crossing the road, we must also stay safe when on our tablets and computer
