The sustainable development goals (SDGs) that resonated with me most when researching for our project include goals, 8 and 12. Goal 8 focusses on decent work and economic growth. Goal 12 focuses on responsible consumption and production. These two goals resonated with my topic as Indonesia’s palm oil industry has become an exploitative industry, thriving off illegal plantations, poor land management and poor treatment of workers.

I gained lots of customer experience when volunteering here. I have learned organising skills when sorting out donations. This experience also helped to tackle my shyness as I was outside of my comfort zone

I've joined many societies one being the environmental science and geography society. This was to make sure i could explore as many paths in geography as possible so i don't limit myself when thinking of the future

Working in a restaurant

Working in the hospitality industry taught me many transferable skills linked with professional behaviour. Dealing with customers taught me how to be assertive yet polite which has been a skill that i have used in many different parts of my life.
