I am a BIG fan of mystery books, and this series is brand NEW to me this year. Mrs. Ellis talked about these books at the very beginning of the school year, and I immediately wanted to read them (especially since they are a new series on Netflix). I have been waiting to get these books at my local library, so hopefully, I will get them soon so I can read them!

Majesty by Katherine McGee - Window and Mirror!

This book was definitely a window and a mirror for me as a reader. The major way Majesty was a window was because it introduced me to the world of royalty, court politics, and scandal. (1) As I am not royalty (nor will I probably ever be), I do not understand the ways in which my characters were living. However, I did see elements of a mirror in this book, especially when it came to relationships. (2)Two of my characters fell in love in this story; I can understand their feelings since I have experienced something very similar. (3)My characters also experienced extreme loss and trauma in the book because of the loss of a loved one; this was a great mirror moment for me because I was able to have empathy for my characters who were trying to live through and understand their own grief.

(1) I felt really bad for Beatrice throughout this whole novel. She really wants to be a great Queen of America, but so many people are getting in her way.
(2) Sam's intentions with Marshall were all wrong from the beginning, but I really understood why she felt the need to be honest at the end of the book. That was absolutely the right choice for her.
(3)Beatrice, Jeff, and Sam all suffer a major loss at the beginning of the book. This was the most devastating part for me as a reader too as we learn how they are trying to navigate grief while being in the public eye as royals.
