One similarity that Marco polo and Denis and Francis had in common in Afghanistan is that when the 2 men Denis and Francis heard this strange sound that went like pop pop tkt tkt. Then they knew a firefight was happening and firefights are dangerous so when this  was happening they tried to drive the other direction and ended running into the hazara.
